There are 2 USB controller chips on the board. So bandwidth is shared of you have all the ports filled.

is this card 64 bit? will it work on windows server 2012 that is 64bit only?

I have this card installed in a HP DC 7900 SFF using OpenSUSE Samba Server. It works great and easily communicates through the SAMBA server to my other Linux and Windows 10 machines.

is this card sata powered or does it get powered from the card slot?

The card has a SATA power input connector.  Connecting this will ensure sufficient power is provided to each USB 3.0 port.  You will need a SATA power cable (not provided).  If not connected I believe there is a lower power level available at the USB ports.  This has been a great USB 3.0 card.  Backups to external USB drives MUCH faster now.

Yes all usb ports are backwards compatible with older usb standard devices.

Is this card USB 3.0, 3.1 Gen 1, or 3.1 Gen2?

In general USB 3.0 = USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gbps), but USB 3.0 (and by extension 3.1 gen 1) =/= USB 3.1 gen 2, which is 10 Gbps.  Blame it on the USB consortium for the confusing naming convention.  By the looks of it this card is USB 3.0 or USB 3.1 gen 1.

I haven't used it with Windows 10, but prior to buying this I did contact the manufacturer and asked them the same question.  I was told by them that it would work with Windows 10.
