HI, I am using reasons 7 to record music. I have no audio inputs because I have no sound card. If I install this sound card will the computer read audio inputs?

It worked as a basic sound card when I had a PC with no sound card. If you're looking for  good sound card to do serious audio recording, then I would suggest purchasing a more powerful and more expensive card. This will work for audio recording, but in a simplistic way.

Will this card work with Windows 8.1?

Yes, I believe it is Windows 7 compatible and you may have to run compatibility settings during driver installation with Windows 8.

Is this StarTech sound card compatible with a HP computer
 with Windows 7?

Yes.  I did not even have to install the included driver, I did anyway just in case the sound improved (which I'm not sure if it did or not).  If you have an onboard sound card, this must first be disabled from BIOS setup.
