Laptop Accessory for Extended Desktop5/17/2015 5:49:08 AM
Pros: Small, simple, tough, reliable
Cons: Obstructs Adjacent USB Jack
Overall Review: I moved my Logitech RF mouse/keyboard dongle to the adjacent USB jack because it fit under this adapter but a USB connector would be obstructed
Small size is great for carrying with a laptop and accessories. If you have a desktop, you may want StarTech's HDMI to DVI-D converter with a six-inch cord to get the bulkier DVI-D connector away from the other connectors.
Perfect for connecting DVI-D cable to HDMI port.10/11/2014 4:03:20 PM
Pros: Good quality
Fits perfectly
Works flawlessly
Cons: A little heavy for its size
Overall Review: I did not buy this through Newegg but I wanted to post a review to help people decide if this is what they are looking for.
This is taking a DVI-D cable and giving it the ability to plug it into an HDMI port. This worked flawlessly for me. I have two monitors that both only have HDMI and VGA capability but my video card has only one HDMI port and two DVI ports. One of my connections is HDMI to HDMI while the other one (thanks to this) is DVI to HDMI. I configured both monitors to the same settings and put the same background on both, and there is absolutely no difference in color or resolution (1920X1080) between the two.
If any connection is really close to the HDMI port you plan to plug this into, it will most likely block that connection so keep that in mind before buying this.
About audio capability: I've seen plenty of reviews for products like this complaining that they don't do audio. The reason for that is DVI is not meant to do audio in the first place, and adding an adapter to make it fit into an HDMI port does not magically add audio.
Works as expected, but tight fit9/8/2013 3:33:59 AM
Pros: It worked flawlessly as a converter. The picture was nice.
Cons: If you're using this for dual-display make sure you size up where it's plugging in. I wanted mine to go next to a dvi-d connection but there wasn't enough room to put them side-by-side. Ended up using vga on the other connection so they both would fit.
Overall Review: I will size up the situation next I want dual-display on a system with motherboard supplied graphic controller.
