Does it change speed at all?

As always, the speed of a particular connection is limited to the slowest capacity within the connection. Therefore, you are not going to see an improvement for an IDE device using a SATA to Molex power adapter. Your device should receive all of the power it needs from such an adapter, no more, no less.

Question 2

I bought a new SSD HD and it has female power input plug, so I need this adapter to go from an old style 4 pin type plug to a female sata on the SSD end. Is that what it will do?

This is not meant to go from SATA to SATA, or eSATA to SATA.  This is meant to adapt an older style Hard drive that was IDE to a newer style PC that is equipped with SATA cabling. If you are using old style IDE cabling, this MAY work for you, but keep in mind that that you will also need an adapter for the Data-side as well for the old-style IDE grey cable. Also, making a conversion to an SSD with an adapter I'm not quite sure will work properly myself. I used this to use an older style IDE Hard drive into my new PC I bought that uses SATA cabling so I could retain it as a spare HDD. Hope this helps.
