I have one of these and I'm trying to use with Fedora as the host for the application. I installed the app and it comes up, but it doesn't see the Crash Cart Adapter -- it asks me to 'please connect adapter' -- but it is already plugged in to a known good USB port and lsusb shows a new device driver installed when I plug it in.

Is there something else I need to do?

In the box, there was also a little red USB device, but I don't see any instructions on what to do with that.

When I first bought the device, I was running Linux Mint. No joy running the application. It gave a vague python error I did not understand. I then installed Ubuntu 12.04 and it worked like a champ! Just recently Ubuntu asked to upgrade from 12.40 to 14.04 and now I am broke again. Darn! I spoke to startech support about this issue. A newer version of the software is in development but not available yet. I have NOT tried running this in a windows VM, but that might be an option for you. Tracy Peek
