Will this work with and samsung nvme drive?

NO it does not support NVMe.   NVMe uses the PCIe interface not the sata interface which is what this enclosure is offering.

At the moment NVMe drives will only work with M/B or laptops with supporting interfaces  or if you buy one of the PCIe cards for about $15-$20.

With most newer motherboards having 1, 2, or 3 sockets for the M.2 drives why would someone need an enclosure, and how does it help performance? Just curious, I'm running 3 x Crucial MX500 M.2 2280 1TB SSDs in my latest gaming rig. Not trying to be negative, but as I said just curious...

This does not "improve" performance it simply allows an m.2 SSd to be installed in a device that only has a 2.5" SATA slot. I did this on my older laptop and now it runs very fast with an m.2 SSD that I picked up on a special.

Question 4

is it compatible with Samsung 860 Evo (1GB) V-NAND Sata M.2? I'm concerned a bit about the M vs B key. Couldn't find the specs on this m.2 ssd. The other important question is, can I install only "one" ssd and leave the other empty? will that work? Thank you

It worked with a Western Digital SATA M.2. I searched and searched for the M vs B on it too and as it turned out the issue is actually moot. My opinion is that it will work with the EVO.

Is this compatible with the "samsung 950 pro ssd"? i want to put it in an adapter so i can easily clone contents of another hard drive to it.
