In sending a fax, if the fax is not picked up in 40 seconds it is disconnected. How do I increase the number of rings or time allowed to the receiving fax machine?

Hardware tab
- Select: LSI USB 2.0 Soft Modem
- Press Properties button

General tab
- Press Change Settings button

Advanced tab
-Press Change Default Preferences... button

I have telephone line with Vonage. I would like to know, if this Fax Modem Works with digital line?

Vonage is analog at the RJ11, so in theory it should work. The problem is TCP/IP and packet order. This can play havoc with modems. I would not use the modem for faxing. If you need fax capabilities use a service like clicktofax instead.

Yes it is. Make sure you install the modems driver from the CD or web site.

None of these numbers mean ANYTHING to me... If I plop this into my computer, will It connect to my cisco router and give me internet?

Fast answer, no. This is just simply an old 56k modem for telephone connection to a device (laptop, etc.) that has no telephone line input.  You plug this into the USB port of your computer and the other end you plug your telephone line into. Like magic, you have slow connection to the internet and/or your service provider. Emphasis on SLOW. But if you live twenty miles from the nearest neighbor and no where near a DSL or or cable provider like I do then you make do with what you can get.

I have heard horrible things about compatibility issues with Windows 8 and routers, printers, modems, etc. Would not touch Windows 8 with the proverbial 10 foot pole.
Windows 7 works with EVERYTHING.

Does it work on windows 8.1?

Mine works well with my HP Sleekbook w/Win8(64). It does
need to be attached to a USB 2 port, not a USB 3.

Then configure your modem connection to your dial-up service
and setup your Win8 network. It is a little awkward
since Win8 was not designed to be modem friendly but
with patience and understanding it can work fine.
