On the Supermicro webpage for this product it is mentioned that for E5-2600 v2 CPUs a BIOS version 3.0 or above is required. Does it have this BIOS version? Thank you.

No, it's only wired for six ports. Two of the bays are just dummy slots.

I cant answer the question directly about the size,  however,  I have used a lot of supermicro servers and they are the best I have come across.  My customers would agree.  They simply do not fail.

Question 4

Is there any place to install 2 -2.5" SSD drives? My guess is there is above the hot swap drive trays.

You could use adapters and put hem in them 3.5" drive trays.  The power and SATA connections are pre-wired into the tray's slots.

Question 5

I'd assume that like most hot-swap backplanes the power handled seprately from the sata/sas connections, so I should be able to use regular a MiniSAS SSF-8087 to SATA cable to connect the backplane to RAID controller, right? I guess my real question then is should I get cable with a right-angle sata connector or just a regular straight one? I looks pretty cramped between the the bays and the fans.

I can't address the first part of your question as I didn't pay much attention to what the connectors were called, but as far as your second question is concerned, I used straight sata cables and had no issues.
