The Syba PCIe FireWire controller splits its ports between internal and external. There are 3 external and 1 internal FireWire ports. The ports are compliant with the 1394a-2000 standard for simultaneous devices so you can be transferring video from your camcorder at the same time you are running a backup to your external hard drive.

Pros: This card works in MacPro, no drivers needed, smooth, fast, no Kernel panics - beats paying $70 for "Mac specific" card from OWC.
Cons: I wish it had 4 ports on the outside, instead of 3 and one inside.
Overall Review: I also bought Syba USB PCI-e and that one, unfortunately, doesn't work with a Mac.
