Question 1

I just bought this card a few weeks ago.  using the 19 pin connector, I attached a usb3 external drive western digital elements 1 tb to it.  for whatever reason the card determined that the western digital external drive was a usb 2 and gave me a message saying that it would be faster to connect it to a usb 3 connector.  I have tried other usb 3 external drive such as the Toshiba and it did not do this.  anyone one else have similar experiences or know why this happened?

I believe the cable is correct.  between the card and the external hd is the 19 pin connector.  the usb 2 connector is completely different and also the cable that connects to the western digital elements itself is definitely a usb 3 cable. and is the cable that came with the drive.  I would think WD supplied the correct cable with their drives.

im starting to think there is something wrong with this drive as it is.  even on known usb 3 ports the drive is intermittent and often wants me to format the drive before I can use it.  when I plug it into a usb 2 port I never does this.

what is the Wattage load of this thing?... bc removing it seems to make my rig more stable

I'm not sure of the load, but in my experience, if a card this small is destablizing your system, you are probably at the top end of your power supply.

Question 3

I have a computer whose PCI-E slots are 1.0 I believe. Is it possible to get USB 3 speeds with such a slot, even if the speeds aren't as fast as with PCI-E 2.0, or would this card fall back to USB 2 speeds when I hook up a USB 3 device?

In other words, I already have USB 2 ports but I'm hoping to get better speed for my USB 3 device, even if it isn't as fast as it would be with PCI-E 2.0.

You would get 250 Megabytes per second max. USB 3.0 spec is around 625 or so.

USB 2.0 is 60 megabytes / second

What is the overall length of the included SATA Power to Molex power convertor cable?

I remember the cable being between 4" and 6" long.  I purchased this 2 years ago for a PC that was not mine so I do not remember 100%.

I have installed this card in my computer. Buy a front panel 20-pin connector. I can conectarllos without problem?

Hi Guillermo.  You can connect it as long as the connector is made for usb 3.0.
