Question 1

I do not appear to have any unused molex power connectors in my system. I do have an unused sata connector. Can that be used to provide power to the card? Tom Feltner

You would need a sata to molex adapter which is very cheep. 
I think the power connector is needed if you have usb devices that takes a lot of power such as charging an ipad but may not be needed for an external dvd player.

Question 2

Can any of these 3.0 ports be connected to a usb 2.0 port to supply power?

I can interpret your question two ways:

1) If unit is plugged into the PCI slot on the motherboard, additional power is supplied to the unit from the power supply to the MOLEX connector on the back of the unit with the adapter provided.

2) If unit is simply used as a port expander, one original USB 2.0
port feeding the adapter through a USB 3.0 port, I do not know if this would work.

Question 3

Do I need to buy a power cable for this as well or can I just plug it into the motherboard and go?

It requires a molex connection for the card to function. without external power the system "Win7" does not see the card. Just a side note Ghost 15 with a custom recovery disk also does not see the add in card.

Has anyone gotten this to work on an EVGA P55 FTW running on a windows 10? If so, could you run through the set up?

I've used this successfully with the configuration you're trying to use.  Download updated drivers and follow the instructions from there and you should be good to go.  If there's still a problem, such as the card not being recognized you may have a faulty card and should either contact Newegg or SYBA for return or replacement.

will this card fit into a Dell Inspiron 530s ?

It is a half height card, with a low profile bracket (iirc), so it should fit in anything with a spare PCI-e 1x  slot.  Check with Dell to see if you have one (if you don't already know).
Conversely, if you don't mind some hands on work you can crack the case open and check yourself (mind that this may void your warranty, ask Dell first if you care).  Google image search "PCI-e 1x mobo"  w/o quotes, there should be lots of pictures that show what the PCI-e 1x slot looks like.  If you have one you should be ok.

Has anyone tested this on linux?

If you are trying to boot Linux from some USB media thru this card, then no it won't to boot Linux or Windows or any other system. This is because this USB card is not recognized by the BIOS - that is why I returned this card. Hope this helps.

Will this work in a Dell optiplex 745? thanks

Since the motherboard doesn`t have Pci Express v2.0 lanes, you wouldn`t get USB 3.0 speed. I don`t think,  even though you could get it working easy enough, that it`s what you`re really looking for. Try to find one (if it`s even possible) that can get USB 3.0 speed on PCI Express v1.0 lanes, otherwise save your money.
