I have pci express x4...on a GA-MA69GM-S2 board...will it work?

Yes, this will work.

The Syba SD-PEX63034 sound card uses a PCI express x1 interface. One of the nice things about PCI express is that you can plug the smaller cards into the larger sockets. They will be compatible.

The Motherboard has a PCI express x16 and an x4 slot. either of these can be used for the sound card. I would recommend using the x4.

Question 2

Does this card come with a low-profile bracket? It looks to be small enough for low profile, but I see no socket.

It does not come with a low-profile bracket. Since this has just been brought to  my attention, I would recommend against buying this product. I can verify that you can get it to work with Windows 8, 64-bit but I've owned  this sound card since the end of December and it's dying already. Channels cut out and while playing music and getting a notification, sound will cut out completely. Spend an extra $20 and I think you'd be much better off for it.

I have a board with pci express 4 ... is this card backward compatible?

What is the exact model of your motherboard? If you give me the model, I can tell you yes or no. 
The model of your motherboard is generally the first thing displayed on your screen when the computer boots up. 
You can also try taking the side panel off your computer and look your various PCI slots. You need to find a slot the same size and configuration as the picture on the sound card, which is a PCI-E x1. Basically every motherboard designed after 2004 should have one, and it's really easy to find.

I am building a computer for gaming and was wondering if this is compatible with DirectSound (DirectX® 9.0c or higher)?

I do not know why it wouldn't be. I use it for gaming, not using the optical output but the 5.1 only, and it works fantastic. I disabled the on-board sound and use this card and am very happy with it for the price. Sorry, I do not know what version of Direct x I am running, but I play on Steam, so I am sure with the games I am playing (Bordarlands 2, Tomb Raider and such) that I have direct x 1, (the latest version I remember updating to)

I've seen a number of complaints about the optical output only supporting stereo, not 5.1, but my question is about the optical input. I have a 5.1 optical input coming from my google tv. I'm looking for a card that can take a 5.1 optical signal in and output 5.1 6 channel direct. Can this card do that?

I used this sound card for my HTPC running on XBMCbuntu. I had to get something that had optical, since my old receiver didn't support HDMI. I'm still using the optical on this card(It's been over 6 months), and the 5.1 Polk speakers that I have set up work wonderfully. There was nothing special that I had to do to set up the card, although I imagine that if installed in a Windows computer you might need to download a driver for it, but that is pretty standard. Anyone who says that it doesn't support 5.1 surround through the optical has no idea what they're doing.

Hi, I've had this for about a month, and I bought it for digital output to my astro A50's. Recently, there has been no sound coming out of the headphones, but my computer says audio is going out of the optical out port. The headphones are connected because I can play music threw the USB, and the green headphone port on the sound card is working too. Can someone help me out?

Well I used this is a Windows 8.1 client computer and went to the website to get the drivers,  then used the built-in speakers on the CRTs on our lab and it worked like a charm.  my guess make sure u use the drivers from their website and NOT the cd included.

Does this card have EAX support?I have a decent sound card already,but I'm looking for a cheapo card with EAX.

sorry, no EAX (environmental audio extensions) support on this card.. EAX is not used much anymore...  take a look at the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy  RX card..  or any of the older Sound Blaster cards... good luck..

Does the software of this card allow the changing of audio jacks? For example, Realtek software allows you to change any port you want to stereo, so you could conceivably have 6 stereo ports if you needed instead of 5.1.

I have not installed it yet but it only has 3 outlets which should work for 7.1 or 5.1.
