No, this won't work with newer (I think 6.x and up) ESX as the drivers were blacklisted and removed. You can always add the drivers back into your ISO and it will work, just an extra few steps to go through that you otherwise wouldn't have to with supported drivers.

incorrect on the bandwidth limitation.
in detail only your motherboard chipset will limit the PCIE bus width for the throughput. My system with 2 of these adapters is working on all 8 ports @ a full 1 Gigabit per second
