Question 1

I want to use this on my LGA1155 motherboard with a NVME SSD. Will it work? Some say it won't be bootable or get the full speed.

There is no simple answer; it depends on the BIOS functionality AND motherboard capability. Some motherboards will support it and others do not.  The LGA1155 architecture is a mature design and may not have the features necessary to support it.  The surest way is to contact the motherboard manufacturer's tech support for an answer.  The only "sure" way is to try it.  If the mobo recognizes it a disk drive then try installing the OS.  If it installs then try to boot from it. If that works WITHOUT any messages then you are probably good to go. I had an ASUS LGA2011v3 mobo that passed the first two steps then failed to boot.  ASUS had told me "it should work".  After it failed they finally admitted the BIOS wanted to work but the motherboard design would not support it  (but would not tell me why).  Good Luck!!

Question 2

Will this card affect the speed of the graphics card in my primary PCIE slot? When two video cards are installed in my board 16x is reduced to 8x speed.

It will depend on the bandwidth required by your video card to operate at full capacity.
PCI express has diferent iterations. Pci gen one, gen 2 and gen 3. Each one doubles the bandwidth of the previous, thus gen 3 at 8x speed would be the same as gen 2 at 16x.
Check how much bandwidth your video card requires and how much you will have available if you cut your current pci express to 8x.

Does this work with NGFF wifi cards?

This card is just a form-factor adapter (i.e., has no brains). If your M.2 wifi card supports the PCIe interface, it should work just fine.

Question 4

How do I affix the SSD to the card? The golden "screw" does not do anything? Am I missing something? My SSD is at a 30 degree angle and it needs a screw or something to keep it straight or parallel to the card. Please help.

The card should have come with a tiny screw (CM2X3-3.3). Mine was in a small ziploc bag in the box. There should also be a standoff on the card (or in the bag) that can be moved to to the appropriate hole on the card to match the length of your particular NVMe "stick".  The SSD when inserted will stick out at a shallow angle and can be pushed down to match the standoff. The screw will hold the stick so that it is parallel to the card. Be careful, the screw is tiny and can get lost, Also, don't over-tighten the standoff or the screw.

Yes, I believe that it will work with this adapter because PCI-E X4, NVMe drives are notched with a M key and this adapter only supports M key drives.  This adapter will not work with M.2 SATA drives because they are notched for B Keys.

Question 6

Would this work for adding an NVMe m.2 card, as the boot device, on an x58 motherboard?  I'm wanting to replace the mechanical drive with an SSD, but the NVMe is so close in price and the speed is so much faster.  I see people saying that it's iffy on a z97 motherboard and this is even older.

This is something that you should research, I'm almost certain that it will not work in my case with ASUS Sabertooth X79.  I'm using the NVMe card as a secondary drive, and I have a regular SATA III drive (Samsung 850) for booting.  This is a little disappointing because the performance is spectacular, by all rights the NVMe device should be used as a system drive.

Should work fine with the ssd but your motherboard bios must support booting from pci-e to make it a boot drive.  Most likely you well be fine as long as your motherboard is from the last few generations.

But to try and answer your question, I believe this card is compatible with all M.2 PCIe  NVMe drives (it works fine with a Samsung and a Toshiba).

Anyone try this on the Older Mac Pro's like 2010 to 2012 Aluminum/Silver Towers and Mojave OS  with Samsung 970 or other M-2 NVME's?

I can boot a Samsung 970 Pro 1TB m.2 into Mojave 14.6 on a 2010 (actual) Mac Pro. Mojave added boot support into an NVME at 14.4. However, with the NVME installed, if I try to boot into 10.13 the CMP just hangs and will not boot. You have to be sure the boot rom is 144.0.0.0. First you need 13.6 and then when you install Mojave, the boot rom is updated. There is a lot of procedural stuff about this you need to look into before you try booting from NVME into 14.6. Search the web for 144.0.0.0 on a 2010 Mac Pro.
