Card pictured here shows a power socket...

Search online otherwise shows card without any power input.

Does this one have it? Crucial in my choice.

I just opened my computer to verify and yes, my SYBA SY-PEX30016 does have a power connector on the rear of the card. It is a standard 4 pin connector (white plastic).

I have my card connected to the power supply and I am using two Firewire 800 devices while running Pro Tools.

I have had no problems at all with the card and it required no installation of drivers as it was recognized by Windows 7 Ult 64, operating system upon installation and boot up.

Does this work with Windows 10? Are there drivers?

I've used this card on MAC OSX 10 and windows 7 and 8.
It works without drivers so I'm guessing it should work fine on windows 10. I would go for it! If you need drivers just install the windows 7 or 8 ones.

Question 3

Purchased this device last week.  Connected to PCIe port and supplied power as instructions stated. Verified motherboard recognized the Texas Instrument 1394 OHCI. Connected two different external hard drives.  The controller recognizes the devices and I can see it under devices manager and devices/printers, but that is it. I can't access the content.  I know the SYBA site says there are no drivers, but how do I access my hard drives?

There are some questions that might help lead you to an answer.

What operating system are you running?
Windows Mac Linux?

What are the external harddrives formatted in?
Fat32 or Mac OS Journalized etc?

I know that with windows operating systems you can recognize an external hard drive formatted in Mac OS but not be able to access it without reformatting the drive to fat32.

If that's not it. Look and see if there are some form of drivers or software from the external hard drives manufacturer that would help your system recognize/gain access to the harddrives.

If all else fails try removing the card from the PCI-E slot. Restart the computer so it shows that the card is no longer recognized. Shut down and install it in another PCI-E slot. Boot and see if that works.

Question 4

Does this product need power from a Molex cable? 
The 360 degree image shows that it does not need a Molex cable attached to it (it does not have a Molex port), but all of the other pictures show it with a Molex port. I would prefer if it didn't have the Molex port because I don't want extra cables dangling in my PC.

I ordered mine about two years ago. Mine looks like the picture on the box, no molex. Sometimes products change over time though, so it is possible that they could have redesigned it to include one, I can't imagine why it would need that much power though.

Does this work with windows 8.1?

Yes it does.  I have an HP Envy running 8.1 and it works.  I had to by a power converter cause the only connections I have are SATA and this takes molex.

Will this card work in a PCIe 2.0 x1_1 slot?

I bought SYBA card last year, but I had to return it because my PC would not detect the card.  My PC was a state of the art system at the time (Digital Storm - Aug 2013) with PCIe 2.0 and Windows 8, 64-bit.  I ended up buying a SIIG Model NN-E20012-S2 instead, which was immediately detected by my system and has been working flawlessly for about six months now.

Is this card linux compatible?

The question was asked in 2013, so we'd have to go back to a 2013-version of Linux. However, I can say that it *works perfectly* on my Linux Mint system (kernel 4.15, Ubuntu bionic) with no need for configuration.

Question 8

The 360 degree view shows this product without a molex port, but all of the other pictures do. Does this product have or not have a molex port? I would prefer if not so I would not need extra cables in my PC.

Yes, the card does have the molex port. The product in the 360 view is an entirely different card, although I'm not sure which one it is. All the other pics shown match what I have in my machine.

will this do: 4 pin IEEE 1394 -to- 4 pin  iDV, for transferring video from a SONY mini DV to my PC?

Hello -

I've never tried transferring video from a Sony camcorder (although I have one - am thinking it's time to upgrade to something newer).

However I've had no problems using this card to connect to an older iPod (with Firewire) and a Drobo DAS (direct attached storage). Just make sure you have the right cable.

By the way, if you're thinking of transferring more than a single DV tape (e.g. you have boxes of old tapes) consider using a video transfer service because it would take forever to move everything to the PC.
