# of devices & is it a download or product key?

This product is the "with Backup" product so it is 1 user, 10 devices.  The version without "backup" is 1 user, 5 devices.  I don't intend to use the 25Gb of online backup space but purchased this version because it's good for 5 more devices.

With both versions, Norton Security has to be downloaded to each device by going to their web site.  The "product key" version is the box shown and a product key card inside.  Attached to the product key card is a credit card sized laminated cardboard product key.  Mine was glued so strongly to the product key card that I had to use "Goo Gone" to remove the remaining glue.

I think their intent is to provide a small product key card which is more portable for use with mobile devices.

Does this copy acts same as an Norton Antivirus. I only wants Antivirus function?

This new version does more than just antivirus. It also handles Internet security, spyware, dangerous websites and downloads, spammers, hackers, and backups, etc. It replaces Norton Internet Security and Norton Antivirus.

This is a one year license and if you per chance buy the 10 license product, the clock starts with the 1st installation. That's not written in the fine print. You only learn that after the install. That applies to any of their products.

how long is the subscription for?

It is for 1 year once you install and activate the product.

Disclosure: I currently have Norton 360 and Norton Multi Device running on various devices. Instead of renewing my subscription  I purchase the latest software when I see it on sale, and activate it when previous subscription expires. My current subscription expires on 2/1/15 so I have not installed the product yet.

What is the length of protection? ( 6mo., 1yr, 2yr?)  Does product come with CD to allow protection before logging onto internet? Will product work with 2 GB memory? tks - chuck bialo

Protection is for 365 days once first device is activated.

Product does NOT come with a CD.  Never been a problem for me.  The CD's that came in the past were out of date due to the ever changing virus patterns and required a new download once installed.  Just go directly to the Norton download site and install the software and you should be fine.  If you have junk, Norton will find it in the first full scan.

Norton Security has a small footprint and will run fine on 2GB.

If I'm currently using Norton Internet Security and have five months left on my license. Can I add the license for Norton Security to that, you used to be able to?  I have a 6th PC I need to protect, but only have a license for 5 PCs. Therefore, I'm looking to get 10 PC version of Norton Security but don't want to "waste" the five months I have left on my NIS license.

It won't be additive.  You should call Symatec to be certain, but my understanding is that the clock starts ticking for all 10 installs once you register the first one.  You can add the other 5 PCs to the 10 install license once they run out, but you'll only get 7 months use for those PCs at that point before the 10 install license terminates.  If you switch the 5 PCs to the new 10 install license when you install it on the 6th PC, you're giving up 5 months left on the old license.  You'd be better off using a free anti-virus for the 6th PC until your 5 install license runs out, then install all 6 of your PCs under the new license.  Hope that helps.

is it time limited for one or two years or it is unlimited time usage??

The Norton version that I bought, as shown here, is one year coverage for up to 10 devices (not 10 users ... the buyer is the user).  Also, the time period starts and ends with the first device that is protected by the software. If you protect a second device two weeks later, then the duration of coverage is one year less two weeks for that second device (52 weeks - 2 weeks = 50 weeks of protection).  And so forth.

I think it's a good deal if you have a lot of devices in the household.  I use it for my desktop computers, laptop, tablets, and smartphone.

Is this good for one year?

Yes, but the 1 year starts the first time you install the product.  Say you first install it on 01JUL15 then it will be valid until 30JUN16 regardless of when you install the remaining nine (9) licences. Hope this helps.

Is this item on an actual CD or is it a key code?

as I recall it is delivered as a key code and you download the program from the Norton site. The site makes it fairly easy to keep track of what computers, tablets and phones you have downloaded and installed the software on. As long as you have an internet connection the lack of physical disk should not be a problem. the key code is associated with the site so you just download the software, install it, and activate it my logging into the account associated with the initial installation Hop this helps
