What hard drives (model and capacity) did you select for use with the Synology DS716+ and why?

I went with 2x 3TB WD Reds - seemed like the best combination of price, capacity, and quality. I think it is generally recommended to use NAS drives for reliability and lifespan.

Since it is a two bay device, I would go with the highest capacity you can afford.

Question 2

Is there any telephone support for this product or is it all really all via email and over 30 hours for a response?   That would make it unuseabke for a business.  Thank you.

Yes, of course their is a support line. Those who keep saying their is not are either competition shills or incompetent. Right of the home page, 1 click on the "Contact Us" link and BAM.. you're looking at several numbers, including support numbers in both Asia/EU and USA with hours of operation..

I would include the link and number here, but Newegg blocks that.  You can also, in the Warranty & Returns product tab on Newegg find the USA number is listed as well.

So yeah, not like Synology hiding the number..
