Can additional light be added in line? Is there a way to do a chase effect?

You can add additional segments, but you must be careful to not overload the controller or power supply. You have to add the current draw from the additional string to the current draw from the original string- that is your total new load. Check the specs for the power supply and controller specs and make sure you're not exceeding them.

Will these bend around a curve or do you need a 90 deg angle connector?

They will bend around a corner just fine
