Will this also work on a desktop or is it strictly for a laptop?

It is a fairly standard SATA III SSD 2.5" with a 7mm thickness so it should work in any desktop or tower provided you have a free SATA connection. Notebooks typically do not have anything close to the space inside a tower or desktop PC so the thickness of the SSD drive is more important if it was going into a notebook.

Will this work and fit a HP 8710w laptop?

Yes it should. It will work with any laptop with a standard 2.5 SATA interface as yours does. I have updated older laptops than yours, Toshiba, Dell and HP from HD to SSD with no issues at all.

Would this work with an acer aspire 5 slim? I am not very tech savvy, so the help would be appreciated.

Aspire 5's come with SSDs, from 128 to 512GB. The GX2 is only 7mm thick and SHOULD swap out pretty easily with your existing drive. I don't have one, so I cannot be certain. Mine went into a Dell Inspiron i7 with plenty of room to spare.

Most SSDs will have some sort of SSD tool box software. Not necessarily cloning software. You may check Macrium Reflect or Acronis True Image as examples of free cloning software that are available.

you better help these people cause this is bad -PR .- you just lost the sale of ram and ssd's from me. Wayne Florida ?

This drive has given me no problems since I installed it over a year ago, no heat buildup, extremely fast access time, not a single failure of this drive. Downloaded the Team Toolbox and installed, the nice thing about the Team Toolbox is that it monitors all my drives including the two M2's by other manufacturers. Just checked and shows all good with that drive that I use as the C:\ drive with the operating system on it, Win 7 64bit and then to Win 10 64bit. This is a good drive, I have 3 and no failures.

Question 9

Is this TLC NAND or QLC NAND?  Doesn't say anywhere on the Team web site (probably for a reason).  No bill of materials so they can and will change the components, even the type of NAND without notice
