I got my card today and the first thing I did was formatting for Samsung Note 2. From 64gB I have 58gB available. Is it normal? I know that "real" memory is less then "nominal", but not by 12%.
Is my card defective?

Alexander - My SD card is in a Samsung ATIV S Neo Windows based phone. It registers as 59.03GB. The 1GB difference is likely how the Samsung Note 2 formatted things.

The device sees a Gigabyte as 2 with an exponent of 30. This equates to 1,073,741,824 bytes. However, the SD card (and this is the same for flash drives, hard drives, etc) see a Gigabyte as 10 to the 9th or 1,000,000,000 bytes. As you can see, there is a 73,741,824 byte difference. That is roughly 74MB per GB.

Using the above math, 74MB * 64 (the amount of Gigabytes) equals 4.736GB...or...roughly a 5GB difference.

64GB minus the 5GB difference is 59GB.

I received a gift of a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 16 GB with an extra card PNY Micro SD XC w/Adapter which works with the tablet. Will the Team 64GB MicroSDXC Flash Card Model TUSDX64GUHS03 work with my Samsung? I am an old geezer trying to learn this electronic stuff. Any advise would be greatly appreciated especially ifI have to format the card as I don't know how to!

Check the documentation that came with the Galaxy Note and it should tell you if a 64 gig will work.  Apparently the XC is no problem since you already have it in the 16.  I bought mine for a Samsung NX2000 digital camera and it works fine.  Plus I never formatted mine before use and had no issues.  But, formatting is a piece of cake and whatever device you put it in should tell you if it needs to be formatted.  And, formatting options can be found using the menu of the device.  If the 16 gig SDXC works and your tablet can handle a card as big as 64 gig you should be good to go.

Is  it possible to clone my operating system (50 GB) to this card in case of a system failure? I have tried it with some USB flash drives in the past but it did not work. although technology has improved.

Not sure of your purpose. Are you doing it to backup your system by making an image or do you want to run the OS from the SD card? Unless you have an up-to-date BIOS you probably cannot use the SD card to boot from. There are ways to install Win 7 on a flash drive. They are found online.

Is this SD card compatible with the 3ds?

My card works fine in my applications/products. The problem I see here is that Nintendo 3ds only supports card sizes from 2GB -32GB (according to their website on 11-30-140. Therefore, I don't think the 64GB from team would work in the 3ds system or may have issues. Pretty sure the Team 32GB would work though. I don't personally have/own a 3ds system so can't physically verify. The SD adapter should fit fine...memory size appears to be the issue. Good luck.

Will this specific card cause any issues with my Samsung galaxy S3? I asked Verizon about this and they told me a 64 GB wouldn't be compatible. Were they wrong or do they know what they're talking about?

I am using the 64GB card in my Samsung Galaxy tab 3 pad. In my galaxy S3 phone I use a 32GB card.  I don't think there is compatibility issue, however, the question should be posed to Samsung.

Yes it will. It has been in use for over a year on my S5. The only caveat is that burst pictures are not saved to the micro SD card. Bursts are saved to local memory.
