Yes, it is compatible with Windows 8. I'm using the SanDisk Extreme 64 GB SD card with this on a USB 3.0 port. Data transfer speeds are phenomenal.

Does this reader let you use both SD and MicroSD slots at the same time?
ie: copy from one card to the other.

Just tested this, it does not work. I was using an MicroSD and a SD card adapter for another MicroSD. It would only read the first card plugged in. After removing the first card. It still would not read the second. Had to remove them all then it would read the other card.

Tested this both SD first and MicroSD first same issue, it would not see the second card.

You would need to copy to your computer first then use the other card.

Question 4

how can I use this on my tablet. If all I have is a mini card slot?? I don't have a port to plug it in.. I need to be able to read my older SD cards in my mini card slot of my tablet. can someone direct me as to what to purchase?

I don't know if Newegg has one, but search "sd card to micro sd card" and you will find what you need. It is a ribbon cable with an end that will fit into a micro sd slot and a regular sd socket on the other end. 3d Printer owners use them to extend their socket to make it easier to access.

The other option, which may or may not work, is to get a standard to micro/mini usb adapter to plug this item to your tablet. But the idea above is a better solution.

Will this read a 32 GB SD HC class 10 card using XP on my computer?

I don't see why not. I'm using Win7, but XP had decent USB support, and the 32GB card is easy. Anything larger like 64GB would use exFAT and might require new drivers to be installed.

I've tested one of my M XD card without issue. Since I only buy brand name memory cards, can't vouch for lesser known brands.

Does anybody know if you use a USB extension cable to extend the 4" cable on this card reader, will you still get the same USB 3.0 through-put? If so, do you have to purchase a specific USB 3.0 extension cable & does Newegg sell them?

As long as your extension cable is also USB 3.0 your will get 3.0 throughput.
