How did we get our start?
Thames & Kosmos was founded in 2001 when a Rhode Island science museum director and her son partnered with a 200-year-old German publishing house to fulfill the great need for science education materials that were more stimulating, effective, relevant—and of course, fun!

Product Features
Compact, Portable Design
Measuring 13 inches long (18 inches when the eyepiece is fully extended), this handy telescope is perfect for on-the-go scientific explorations. Make terrestrial (land) and space observations wherever you are!
Collapsible Tripod
The included tripod comes in handy when you want to keep your telescope pointed at an exact point in the sky. It opens easily and the telescope quickly and securely pops into place. When you want to use the telescope without the tripod, just fold it flat for easy storage!
Finderscope
By design, telescopes have a narrow field of view, which can make it difficult to locate a particular star or planet. To help with this, your telescope comes fitted with a low-power, wide-field, miniature telescope called a finderscope to help you locate the object you want to view.
The Altazimuth Mount
Easily adjust the angle of your telescope thanks to its altazimuth mount ("alt" = vertical movement, or altitude; "azimuth" = horizontal movement). Move your telescope up, down, left, or right and lock it in place when you have the view you want!
High-power Eyepiece
Use the 4-mm (high-power) eyepiece for 100x magnification power. The higher magnification power is ideal for detailed observations of bright objects such as the moon, Jupiter, or Saturn.
Low-power Eyepiece
Use the 20-mm (low-power) eyepiece for 20x magnification power. This eyepiece gives you the widest angle and brightest, sharpest views and is great for observing galaxies and nebulae.
Compass
The telescope comes equipped with a mounted compass that you can use to take direction bearings from your viewing site to your viewed subject.
Moon Filter
The moon filter (lunar filter) helps reduce the moon's bright glare for improved viewing of the moon. It screws into the eyepiece quickly and easily!
