Thermalright XP-90C CPU Copper Heatsink

Comments: Although several reviews mention getting a LGA775 adapter to go with this cooler, I think it's worth saying again: EVEN THOUGH THE NEW EGG DESCRIPTION says it is 775 compatible, it is NOT unless you buy the additional adapter from Thermalright.

Pros: very nice

Cons: It would have been nice if it was mentioned somewhere that the 775 sockets require a Thermalright LGA775 RM Retention Bracket.

Pros: This thing eats children. I have it on my 3800+ manchester stock voltage. Installed on the A8N32 SLI board with arctic silver 5 compound. I got 90mm fan on it and it is set at very low setting. Idle temp is at 37 C. With fan on full blast at 5200 rpm's the temp goes down to 31 degrees. Excellent for heat dissipation espeically with the mobo because the heatsink fits perfectly right above the north bridge.

Cons: Heavy, must be attached to board very firmly. It's rather hard to clip on, but that's cause the aluminum is so thick and it needs to be snug on there. The wires to add a fan are a pain, but very efficient and functional.

Overall Review: Super stylish heatsink, great for a clear case, all you need is some high flow exhaust and you got a race engine.

Pros: You can run this without a fan if you want, though, to fully utilize this heatsink, get a fan

Cons: Really heavy, sometimes I wonder if it'll snap my mobo in half, but that's kinda half the fun in it.

Overall Review: Got it from another site, but only because they offered all the retention brackets with it, if Newegg had done so, I would have went with them, no doubt.

Pros: With 1750 RPM fan keeps my overclocked Opteron at 24C

Cons: Need to replace the stock frame with one with heat sink. The screws supplied are too long to tighten the bottom plate.

Overall Review: The annoying whine from the stock fan is gone!!

Pros: This thing is just gorgeous to look at and it does a terrific job. have it paired with a 92mm Vantec Tornado and some Arctic Silver 5 and it immediately dropped my core temp by 5C. Once the Arctic Silver 5 burns in, I should see another 2-5C drop...a very nice investment indeed.

Cons: Nope.

Overall Review: Thermalright is simply the best HS money can buy. Workmanship is superb and the product lives up to the reputation.

Pros: I bought this a little over a year ago just after building my system (AMD64 3500 939 & AV8 board). Stock ran 38* Idle and 49* loaded, dropped to 28/42* with the XP90c and the recommended PANAFLOW fan. AND...It's Beatiful to look at. Better get one NOW, because the price of copper is going through the roof and this is THE Air Cooling Solution to Have...

Cons: None--just use care and patience while mounting it to your system.

Overall Review: Somewhat surprisingly, it seems position insensitive. I have tried it in all orientations and found that it works equally well in any, unlike many other products that use heat pipe cooling systems. You DO get what you pay for!

Pros: Gets the job done well and works great with a Thermaltake 90mm fan. It keeps my Opteron 165 (1.8ghz) overclocked to 2.4ghz at stock voltage (1.31) idle at around 36 degrees. Under load it gets up to around 42.

Cons: Heavy, but an overrated issue... does not come with fan and for the price, it should. Copper base had a few divits, not as smooth as I thought it would be.
