Q: Has anyone tried to fix an extended ATX motherboard (12x10.6in) into this case?

My MSI Krait (X370) board leaves almost 2 inches more to the PSU; with MB any longer than that, you might mount by altering the PSU mounting... there's about 1.2 " gap between PSU and Lexan side, so you might be able to mod for that if necessary.

Question 1

I have a crazy idea with this case, can you remove the black feet on it?

By black feet I assume you mean the two large L/T-shaped feet at the bottom of the first few product images correct? Yes those are removable, and they also include four rubber feet in the box if you'd like to use the case "horizontally" i.e. acrylic panel on "top" parallel to the ceiling, and the white body as the base (see NewEgg's screenshot #6). Keep in mind there are several screws on what would be the "bottom" in that orientation that protrude to keep that panel in place, so you need to at least use those rubber feet in that orientation. You can check out Thermaltake's website for more screenshots of both orientations with sample builds, basically the same customization-wise as the P5 minus extra space for a reservoir so you can also see videos of the P5 on YouTube and get a good idea of what to expect.

Question 2

I think mine arrived without the acrylic covering.  The only thing inside is a heavy piece of cardboard-colored material.  Is this just the transparent covering with something protecting it that I need to remove somehow?

Yes, the acrylic panel comes wrapped in an adhesive paper that appears to look like cardboard. Work along the edges and corners, you should find a place to begin pealing the paper off.

Question 3

Is it possible to reduce the width of the tower (from metal to the glass) if I were to not use the vertical GPU riser and mounted the PSU flat to the surface?

You can, especially if you're not using a reservoir for liquid cooling. The only thing is that the stand-offs are not adjustable, they come one length and screws into the frame. If you want to keep the unit flat you can ignore the stand-off and glass, and just have a completely open system. That should cut down the depth of the unit by maybe a few inches.

Question 4

Does the case come with two riser cables? And if not, is it possible to even install two graphics cards in there if I just buy another riser cable?

It comes with one, and you will only need it if you plan to install the GPU vertically. There is an option for installing the GPU/s horizontally directly on the motherboard.  Personally I think if you are installing more than one graphics card, it may look better horizontally.

With that said, it is highly recommended that you buy new riser cables (different brand), and with a bit of maneuvering, you can definitely install two of them. Hope this helps!

What is the difference with the Riser Cable and without the Riser Cable?

The option with the riser cable is worse as the included Riser cable is not very good and you will only at best get your video card working at Gen1 or Gen2 capacity. Without riser cable you will only be able to mount your vid card horizontally. I recommend skipping the riser cable and putting the savings toward a good quality riser cable that costs 65-89$.

Does this unit come with pci ex extension cable?

Yes it does. It's Thermaltake's "updated" version and it's packed flat (the older ones were slightly longer and also bent, which caused the high failure rate). Currently using the extender with my Strix GTX 1070 and I haven't had any issues. If you're on the fence I'd def recommend pulling the trigger! It looks sick and makes cable management a breeze

What is the build material?

The frame is sheet metal    The legs are plastic.   The front is acrylic and the front supports are stainless steel

Is the expansion card riser mandatory?  Can the same chunk of metal be configured so that expansion cards plug in the traditional way?

The riser is optional. I currently have my 1070 directly connected to the PCI-e on the motherboard.

Could i set a monitor on the glass? I'm worried about shattering but is this a real concern?

Well, first, it's acrylic not glass.  It'd probably not break, but it would almost certainly bend over time.  And, depending on the size of monitor you put on there, it'd likely flex immediately.

Overall, would not recommend placing anything directly on top of it.  Now if you instead went and got a piece of tempered glass cut and placed over top (t'd actually rest on the top of the 4 posts that protrude slightly beyond the acrylic), I think that'd work perfectly and probably not cost you much at all either (<$50).
