Enjoy sizzling PC action, without burning up your system in the process, with the Thermaltake CL-P0114 CPU Cooler. This hi-tech heatsink and fan combo lends an edgy, industrial look to your PC with its fiery aluminum and copper construction and performance-engineered fan.

The Big Typhoon sounds a lot more like a calm summer shower, producing a mere 16dB of sound at 1300 RPM. The unit’s amply sized fan, equipped with 120mm blades, makes quick work of searing CPU heat by dispelling it at the rate of 54.4 cubic feet of air per minute. The 6 performance heatpipes, crafted entirely out of pure copper, efficiently carry heat away from your system’s core, working in harmony alongside the fan to dissipate heat and lower your system temps!

Compatible with Socket 478/754/939/940 and LGA775 platforms, this versatile Thermaltake model was designed to work with just about every modern desktop CPU. For ultra-cool protection and forward-thinking style, the Big Typhoon blows away the competition.

This thing was a beast.. and still is! 12/10/2012 11:24:43 AM

Pros: I've had this cooler on an AMD 3700+ (used to be one of the fastest and most over-clockable single core processors you could buy) for about 8 years now. I was able to pull off ridiculous overclocks and this baby has been doing it's job for almost a decade of continuous nonstop use. (i never turn my pc off. just reboot once in a while). I'm finally upgrading my pc.. But even tho multi-core processors were released many years ago now (the same year as my 3700+ in fact), this giant beast of a cooler allowed to me keep plugging away.
It's finally time to move on, but this cooler will keep a warm place in my heart.

Cons: It was a bit noisy in my case that left almost zero clearance between this beast and a solid piece of plexiglass (no holes to draw in air) but i got used to the gentle hum and it was reassuring after a while knowing that hum was the sound of my heavily OC'd pc being kept icy cool.

Best cooler EVAR! 7/12/2012 7:18:23 AM

Pros: Kept my AMD super cool for years and looks really cool. The size commands respect.

Cons: It was really big so I had to make sure the cases I switched the motherboard around in where big enough for that massive monster.

Overall Review: Its funny how the size is bot ha pro and a con. overall it was a really good buy I think.

Size does matter 10/14/2011 9:33:51 AM

Pros: All copper base. 120mm fan compared to most 80mm 92mm fans. Quietly cools my Q8200 to 43C and below. Not a cheaply made heatsink at all.

Cons: Large size means no aftermarket changes around CPU. Height is a minor problem with my case (Thermaltake V9 Black Edition Gaming Chassis) due to the 230mm side intake fan. About an inch apart and no longer quiet from the turbulence created between the two.

Overall Review: When mounting this monster on your motherboard, remember to tighten the 2 top-most screws a little tighter than the 2 below. Doing so will not only provide better support but will also ensure a level contact surface between the base and CPU. Believe me before I figured this out my CPU wouldn't go below 47C because half of the base was in contact with the CPU from the weight of this heatsink. I ended up changing the fan to a slot controlled fan with a max RPM of 2300. Now my temps never go above 40C while overclocking

A good cooler, but with some tweaking it can be a great one! 6/10/2009 8:49:47 PM

Pros: It's big and shiny.
It can accommodate other 120mm fans.

Cons: Product does not seem as well made as it should be.
Some copper welding looked "glued on".
The heatsink is two separate pieces.
A bit tough to install.
Takes me about 5-10 minutes to get it on "just right".

Overall Review: I used this with some OCZ Freeze that I had bought recently. My E5200 is running at 3.8GHZ with a maximum temperature of under 60 degrees Celsius. According to my BIOS my idle temperature is under 40 degrees. Core Temp has trouble reading any temperature under 50 degrees for this CPU. It is stuck at "44". I swapped out the Thermaltake fan and replaced it with another brand that has an LED with a slightly higher CFM of under 80. I am considering getting a 100+ CFM 120mm fan to see how low I can bring down the temperatures. I also will probably invest in a good set of earplugs.

This Thing is an Air conditioner! 6/8/2009 10:13:25 PM

Pros: This thing does what it is designed to do....and then some!.. I went from running at 50c on idle on an AMD Phenom 9650 Quad core, to 36c idle... never gets above 40c when i'm gaming..

Cons: it doesn't do my dishes

Overall Review: AMD Phenom 9650 Quad Core 2.3ghz - MSI K9A2 Neo-F , 6gb of DDR2 1066 clocked down to 800mhz , 750gb hdd space - Nvidia 9500GT 1gb

Great CPU Cooler 6/3/2009 11:09:46 AM

Pros: QUIET FAN, and great cooling - BIG upgrade over the stock Intel cooler

Cons: It's BIG, so make sure your case is big enough to house this giant beast!

Overall Review: This is a very good quality cooler. After 3+ years of using the stock Intel fan/cooler I finally decided to upgrade to a quieter model. The Intel fan would just get too loud at times, and got very annoying. Based on the reviews on this site and elsewhere, I decided on the Big Typhoon. Installation was a breeze, and I had the Intel fan out and replaced in about 20 minutes total. I was very happy with the results of the Big Typhoon. This thing is QUIET, and does a great job of keeping my temps down. I have the fan set to the lowest setting, and cannot hear it at all. It also keeps my CPU temp well below where it was with the Intel cooler. Overall, I would recommend this if you are looking to upgrade your CPU cooler.

Pros: I got this as part of a build for my friends wedding gift.
This thing is so quiet. It keeps his q6600 idling @27c! and all cores at 100% for 10 mins @45c! It look great too, I can see the orange fan thur the side vent.

Cons: Its heavy, be real easy moving the pc around after install. The mounting hardware doesn't use springs so its easy to start bending the board when cranking down. Its very big, and in fact covers the cpu fan header.

Overall Review: The low temps has to do with the case a bit since there's a 120mm vent 10mm from the top of the cooler, sucking in fresh air.

This thing may be big, which caused me a few problems but I have it on a mini-atx board in a mini-tower;)
