MSI MPG MONSTER BUILD
This was a gift to myself, from myself. Why? Because I deserve it.
Every part of this build was thought out. I didn’t chase “Top Seller” badges or popularity votes. This isn’t a popularity contest. I went after real specs, real performance, and the exact look I had in my head.
**CPU:** AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
I was done with Intel. I wanted X3D, and I wanted to finally go AMD. I looked at options like the 9800X3D and 9900X3D, but the 9950X3D was the perfect fit: 16 cores / 32 threads, 5.7GHz boost, 4.3GHz base, 170W TDP, 144MB total cache, and PCIe 5.0
**Motherboard:** MSI <3
The board had to be MSI. I wanted this to feel like an MSI build, and MSI makes serious hardware. Also, I was already locked in on the case, and the absolute top-tier boards weren’t going to fit my vision. This one hits the sweet spot exactly what I wanted
**RAM:** 6000+ MT/s (and stable)
I looked high. I looked low. I landed on 256GB because that’s what I wanted in this machine and I wanted it fast. I’m running 4 sticks at 6000 MT/s with AMD EXPO on G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo (F5-6000J3644D64GX4-TZ5NR). This was one of the few kits that’s actually proven to be stable at 6000 in a full 4-DIMM setup. I’m very pleased
**GPU:** MSI GeForce RTX 5090 32G SUPRIM SOC
Enough said... just look at it!
**Case:** NZXT H9 Elite
I went with the NZXT H9 Elite because the whole build had to look clean. I had a specific vision for how I wanted this monster to look
**PSU:** MSI MPG A1250GS
Since it’s an MSI leaning build, I went MSI on the power supply too. And I’m glad I did! The cables are clean and premium, and the routing came out organized and satisfying. No one’s going to see all the back-side work… but I will. That’s the point
**SSD:** Samsung 9100 PRO (not the everyone else pick)
I chose the Samsung 9100 PRO over the 990 PRO for one reason: it’s in a different league.
Samsung rates the 9100 PRO at up to 14,800 MB/s read and 13,400 MB/s write, and they literally call it two times faster than the 990 PRO (which is up to 7,450 / 6,900). This build has the need for that speed. People can go buy whatever’s popular. I'll buy what’s better
**Cooling:** LIAN LI Hydroshift II (I made it work)
NewEgg’s builder flagged it as incompatible and technically… it is. But I got it in.
I picked the Lian Li Hydroshift II because I wanted hidden tubes. I didn’t want that droopy hose look. When I installed it, I found the incompatibility issue. The stock tube brackets prevent it from seating right in the NZXT frame, so I removed the brackets, and the fit instantly worked. There’s also just enough space behind the radiator area to push the tubes up and keep them clean without those brackets. The exact look I wanted. Take a look at the Photo. For fans, I went Lian Li UNI Fan SL-Infinity Wireless 120 so I didn’t have to run extra wires. Clean front. Clean back. Clean everything. (Note: pay attention to fan orientation) One other fitment issue was that the rear fan was barely too tight about 1/8in needs to be cut off to fit perfectly. The fix was simple, I chose the side of the fan I wanted visible and removed the cover on the hidden side to get the clearance. I used a blade and cut off that 1/8in from the other side. It surprisingly easy to do. I don’t regret it. The look came out perfect
**Monitor:** MSI MPG 272URX
You can’t cheap out here. I went with the MSI MPG 272URX QD-OLED 4K (3840x2160), 240Hz, 0.03ms. That’s the kind of panel that actually matches what this PC can do. Let me tell you, anyone that's seen my screen their 1st words are "wow"
**Hardware:** Logitech
Keyboard + mouse are Logitech. I’ve been on Logitech for years and they make great gear.
Headset is the Logitech Astro A50 X LIGHTSPEED and the sound quality is legit
