With the 2GB of memory, what are the simple everyday disadvantage usage of not having 4GB+?

In simplest terms, more memory = more process at the same time without lag or slowdown. Chrome's Operating System (Chrome OS) is very easy on system resources but I would personally be sheepish of cutting out to much RAM/Memory. The most common use case where you will see a difference is when you have multiply browser tabs ( or browser windows) open at the same time. At some point you max out the memory(RAM) and the computer has to start using Swap(A piece of the Hard Drive that it treats like RAM but is slower because it is a Hard Drive and not a RAM chip). However, the Chrome Book uses a Solid State Drive(SSD) (Which are very, very fast) So It is entirely possible the performance difference when switching form RAM to Swap will be negligible.

If you are the type of user who will only have one or two things going on at once, 2GB RAM/Memory should be just fine and will likely never make a difference. However, If you want to have 5 or 10 tabs open and buffering several YouTube videos and have a Document open to work on and check you email and ..., then you fall into the range of the power user and will want a little more RAM/memory, maybe 4GB.

It is a little hard to say with the Chrome Books, I would ask myself just how much I want to be doing at once.

If I buy an external cd-rom, will I be able to install printer software (so I can use the scanner) on this Chromebook?  I have to be able to install the software or my extra printer options will not work.

Unlikely. The printer needs drivers for Chrome OS (not Windows) as will the scanner. Its designed to use Internet printing so your printer will need to be accessible thru the internet, not local home network

It depends upon what you want to do. But, I can't think of much reason to have a CHROMEBOOK unless you want to make use of the web.

It comes with a charger that you can plug into the wall and charge the laptop. As far as portabal chargers, no.

A very interesting question indeed it has a larger screen that is not touch-sensitive and a real keyboard so it's more like a laptop. You'll be like in in the Google universe rather than Apple's one.

Chromebooks are great but if you do everything the Apple way then you'll have to think differently to function happily with a Chromebook.
