Pros: -Crisp, clear, bright screen. -Full keyboard has a nice feel to it, and is easy to type on. -Runs some light games, including WoW @ native resolution + max settings(no aa/af, make sure you turn vsync and reduce input lag off) -Cheap. Grabbed this while it was on sale. -Not really a fingerprint magnet like glossy laptops, but you'll still see where you've touched it. -Plays 720p without any issues at all.
Cons: -Only 2 USB ports -Fan intake is on the bottom. Easy to block airflow and then the temps shoot up. -Touchpad is off-center and a tad annoying when trying to type if you have large hands. -Bloatware, lots and lots of bloatware.
Overall Review: After I removed all the bloatware, it booted so much faster. Toshiba really packs the OS full of junk that slows it down. You can also merge the recovery partition with the OS partition from within Windows 7 if you choose to and get some extra hard drive space. Overall, this is a very nice machine for cheap. I have no previous experience with Toshiba, but I'm hoping their quality is good and this will at least last a couple of years.
Pros: This is the second Toshiba I have bought, and I have not been disappointed yet. The notebook runs very quickly and smoothly.
Cons: None yet - though it did take me a little time to get used to the 10 key number pad on the right hand side of the laptop.
Overall Review: I purchased this on sale through Newegg, but for $550 (current price), this is still a really good deal!
Pros: Fast, light, no bloatware, cheap -- got it for Three Ninety Nine on sale. It has build in web camera and microphone.
Cons: - One dead pixel - No HDD LED - Average sound quality.
Overall Review: This laptop is fast enough for most people. Has good video card, full size keyboard, 4GB memory.
Pros: -Powerful (64-bit CPU/OS; 4GB DDR3) -Number pad. Wasn't sure about this, but I've used it several times as a calculator and find it very pleasant. -FN and Windows key in proper position between CTRL and ALT. -Power jack on the side. Seems like the safest place for it. All other ports are on the left, leaving plenty of room for a mouse on a cramped desk. -Beautiful finish--a textured matte-black.
Cons: -I miss a physical volume control wheel (a lot). -Speakers. I thought my old ones were bad but these are worse. Wish they were louder. At home I hook up my laptop to my stereo, but good, loud speakers are nice for sharing music. -Power button has no light on it. I have to look at the tiny light on the front to figure out what's up (and it's always the same color and blinks very slowly when sleeping). -Flat keys: while beautiful, I am not as comfortable with the keys (yet?). Without contoured keys, my fingers tend to end up in wrong places. -2 USB. Shouldn't be a big deal. I keep peripherals plugged into a single hub on my desk, so when I set it up at home I only need to plug in a single usb anyway. -S-video or HDMI would have been nice to have -Have never used bluetooth before but I would have expected it to be standard by now.
Overall Review: Pros/cons listed as most important first. I paid $400 for this laptop, but I would have paid full price ($550). I'm replacing a Satellite M35X that's still kicking strong after 5.5 years. This gave me faith in the Satellite model. However, as a programmer, it was getting harder and harder to be productive on older hardware. It lacked graphics capabilities (16MB integrated), but I had it running beautifully. That is, until Adobe came out with Flash 10. But that's a rant for another time... Removed most of the bloatware, especially the stuff that ran at startup. Baseline number of processes is now around 45-50 (Process Explorer). Slowly getting used to the wider screen. It's approx. 0.5" shorter than my old one but has the same number of pixels. Played a 480p Hulu clip fullscreen in FF on my (extended) 1920 x 1080 monitor with great success. Had to configure touchpad for comfort. Have used/hated Vista on occasion, but I went straight from XP to 7 and I'm happy.
Pros: Great Price, Graphics card can handle some not too graphically intense games ( I play Call of Duty MW on low settings). Feels well made and not too heavy
Cons: First one died after 30 days (just did not turn on at all no warning). I called New Egg and they gave me ZERO hassle. I told them what I tried and they said ok np we will send you email with UPS and info of how to send it back... Less then 2 weeks I had a brand new computer and it works fine
Overall Review: Love Newegg! Great price for this computer and buying it from a trusted distributor makes it all so much better and stress free.
Pros: Good entry level at $400
Cons: Runs very hot, the cpu fan blow very hot air out. also Toshiba puts alot of junk software on it, but pc decrapifier does a good job removing it.
Overall Review: I have a Lenovo G550 too and it runs much cooler.
Pros: Extremely fast for the specs Lightweight Does not get fingerprint marks too easily Excellent display
Cons: Mouse touchpad is sensitive, sometimes accidently scrolls webpages. No external volume controls (besides mute) Speaker volume is low when turned as high as it goes.
Overall Review: For the $400 I purchased it for, it is very worth the price. I didn't need a notebook for gaming or intensive use...just to have around the house when I'm not by my desktop (fantasy football!!) and when I'm out and about.

Pros: The price / performance ratio makes this five stars. A 64 bit Windows 7 with 4 gig ram, AMD II core is outstanding in value and very good in performance. Enough space on the 250 GB hard drive for most people. I am running video editing software and development software with satisfactory performance. At this Price it is just terrific. Windows 7 performance rating is 4.1 - Processor 5.1, Ram 5.9, Graphics 4.1, Gaming Graphics 5.3 and Disk 5.7 "Bright" wide screen at just the right gloss
Cons: Two USB ports only. Even at this price one would expect three. The keyboard is "full size", it also includes full size number keypad; it is off-center to the left for touch typing. It is taking some adjusting to as I move between a regular keyboard and this one. Only 30 days of free Norton Security
Overall Review: Much Better than expected performance at this price. I am having problems with my touch typing thumb hitting the touch pad at the wrong time but this is likely my typing style. Got the Laptop less than 24 hours after I ordered it - Thank you New Egg. Too much junk ware as usual so uninstall what you don't want before you connect to the internet. A PC with more ports is going to cost you more so quit grousing. This is a great value casual or 2nd or 3rd family use laptop
