Are the Ethernet ports 10/100/1000 standard? I've seen images of the side of the box for this model where it actually says 10/100 only?

Disregard the box. I confirmed with T-P link & Newegg that the actual model does support gigabit ethernet. TP has not updated the box. The router should be v2.0 which does support gigabit. I have been using it about 3 months now with no issues.

Can this router do the N protocol over 5Ghz band? I have a 600N adapter and would like to connect via the less crowded 5 gig band.

Yes it has 5Ghz n band - but only at half speed - 150Mbps. From TP-Link Archer C900 AC900 spec page under signal rates. 5GHz: Up to 433Mbps (Only with 11AC Wireless Adapter); Up to 150Mbps with 11N Wireless Adapter 2.4GHz: Up to 300Mbps Just guessing but wonder if only having a single 5GHz antenna might limit the reception?
