Is the TP-Link EAP 225 powered by battery or does it need a electric power feed?

It is power over ethernet and comes with a power injector in the box.  If your switch has poe its plug and play.  If not you will plug the power injector into an outlet.  Then plug network cable from switch to the data in port in the injector and then a network cable from the camera into the data/power out port on the injector.

Will this work as an AP with routers of another brand?

I believe the feature you are looking for is  called Client Mode by TP Link.  The terminology does not seem to be standardized.   DD WRT seems to call this feature Wireless Bridge Mode.

In any case, TP Link Client Mode allows a wireless Access Point (Client) to be configured to make a wireless connection to a second Access Point (AP) which provides access to a LAN or internet. Unlike the AP, the Client does not allow other wireless host machines such as smart phones, tablets, etc to make a wireless connection to the Client.  The Client's wireless connection is only to the AP.     A PC or switch can then make a wired connected to the Client and access the resources on the LAN by way of the wireless AP.

The TP Link  TL-WA901 (wireless N)  and TL-WA1201 (Wireless AC) are examples of two TP Link Access Points that implement Client Mode.  Of course, each of these APs can be configured in the usual AP mode, as well as several other modes. However, I doubt they would be suitable for your application.

There is nothing that I saw in the EAP 225 v3 specification on the TP Link web site that suggest that it can be configured in Client Mode.  You might want to check the EAP 225 v3 documentation to verify for yourself.

Question 3

The power supply adapter that comes with this "the poe injector" is it 110v or 220v input? or is it free voltage? Please advice.

how well does this TP-Link EAP225 v3 work as a Wi-Fi extender? looking to extend/boost wi-fi signal at the end of the house, extending from the main ISP router/WAP. anyone? thanks.

To be honest, I wouldn't expect the EAP225  to work well as a Wi-Fi extender. This device is an enterprise class access point, which means that its supposed to be used in conjunction with other EAP225's over a gigabit backhaul.

Several years ago I retrofitted my house with Cat-6 cabling and installed three of these units in key locations around my house. They're powered by a PoE switch which then attaches to my router. My router itself has the Wi-Fi aspects of it turned off.

Wi-Fi extenders are kind of bad in the sense that every additional hop a signal has to make translates into to bandwidth being cut in half. The beauty of an Enterprise class system such as this one by TP-Link is that all the access points attached to it will have the exact same (theoretical) wireless strength. They also make moving around your home and having your Wi-Fi device hand-off between access points a seamless process.

Can this be used as a bridge?  IE, attach a PC to the ethernet port and then give the PC access to the wireless network?

Since there is only one network port, you can not hardwire a PC to it but it is possible via a poe switch maybe.

I am interested in powering this unit from a PoE gigabit switch, but I have read other reviews saying the speed is limited to 100mbps with PoE.  Is this true?  Will PoE work on this unit with any brand of PoE switch?
