Does this have to be hard wired to modem for it to work? I have Xfinity

This does not have to be hard wired to a modem. You plug it in to an electrical outlet within range of your wifi signal and it "Rebroadcasts" the signal to add range to your wifi. Works pretty well. Have had mine about 2-3 months.

does it work with a chrome book?

Since this is an extender (of your normal WiFi) it will work with any device using a WiFi connection. I use it with a Dell laptop, Samsung Tablet, and both Motorola and Samsung phones. It has great coverage to the front portion of my house and is needed since the WiFi router is in the back of the house. I have never had any problems with the RE450 extender

I went to settings and there are 0 clients. I want to add 3 wifi cameras (clients): Type Device Name MAC Address But, it will not allow me to add them. How do I accomplish this?

This is an extender not a router do this on the main router you are extending from
