Windows XP to Windows 8 are listed. Will it work with Windows 10 ?

The short answer is yes.

It's kind of silly that they would even list compatible operating systems. This device doesn't really care what's plugged into it. It establishes an internet connection and then provides access to that connection through its ethernet port. If your device can connect to the ethernet port it will, in most cases, connect to the internet.

Basically, ANY laptop or desktop computer with an ethernet port can plug into this cable modem and connect to the internet.

The recommended way would be to use a router/wifi router to connect to the cable modem and then connect your device/computer to the router to get internet access.

does this require another piece of equipment to provide a wifi signal?

Yes, in order to set up a wifi connection, you will need to have a Wireless Router that offers that capability and connect it to this modem. This modem does not offer a WiFi setup, it only offers direct-connection to the internet (with a cable connection)

Will this work with Xfinity?

Yes this and all DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems will work with Xfinity according to their tech and sales people. I am currently using this modem with Xfinity. You will need to call their set-up toll free line to provide the MAC address and modem model number so that they can enter it into their system and activate it. You can't use the online activation system unless it's Comcast hardware, which will be recognized by their system.

Will not work with CenturyLink or AT&T. Only cable providers like COX, Charter Comm, Comcast and Time Warner.

You should pick from the Cox approved devices from their list.

Google for "Cox Approved Cable Modems" and you will find the answer.  New Egg won't let me link to it.

This one might work but since they have an approved list there's no reason to risk it.  Just get one of the other ones like the Arris SB6141 or the SB6183.  Those are considered the "gold standard" currently.  The 141 is slower than the 183 but depending on the internet package you subscribe to you may not need to buy the faster one.

That depends on the service.  If it's cable and it's DOCSIS, then yes.  If it's FiOS, then no.  Verizon tells you what technology they're using in their product information if you read the whole thing.
