One ethernet port. You need to connect it another device such as a security appliance, access point for more security, or a switch with no security.

What is the electrical power consumption? Does it run hot?

The power adapter is rated for 12v DC at 2.5 amps. It doesn't seem to run hot.

Does anyone use this device with RCN internet service?

I use this with Rcn and have no problems

Does anyone use this modem with Verizon Fios?

This modem is not listed on Verizon's approved modem page. This does not mean it won't work, it just means they won't support you if it does not work or stops working. Best bet is to check their site (which I am not allowed to link here) for compatible modems or call them and ask.
