Does this modem router work with AT&T Uverse?

I can't say with certainty because I haven't tried it. But this modem is *very* configurable. The outside of the box lists 23 ISPs that it is compatible with (including AT&T) and it comes with a little booklet listing dozens of settings for various ISPs (including AT&T). The booklet even begins with a special section dedicated to AT&T, listing settings used by AT&T in various states (in the USA). I'd be rather surprised if there's anything this modem can't work with.

However, Uverse is not specifically mentioned, so no guarantees.

In the customer reviews for this modem you'll see numerous people saying that finding out the correct configuration values from their ISP was the hard part of getting this modem to work. The manufacturer has bent over backwards to be helpful in this regard, and the manual (a PDF on the included CD) even gives advice for how to talk to an ISP tech support rep who doesn't want to help support a "foreign" modem. In my case (CenturyLink formerly Qwest in Washington State) the easy quick setup procedure just worked with no further tweaking.

You can download the manual from tp-link dot com to see all the configuration settings it offers, and compare them to those for an existing modem known to work for your ISP. But I bet it'll work.

Neither / none. This "modem router" as they call it has only one LAN-side port, a single Ethernet jack. It has no wireless capability whatsoever. You would have to ad a Wireless Access Point on the Ethernet wiring in order to have wireless thru this router. That's what I did (I added another router with wireless feature) and it works fine.

There is not enough information in the question to understand the point of the question. For example, do you mean will the ethernet port (output) of the TD-8817 connect to the WAN input of a router which will then make WiFi connections available, then the answer is yes; but that is true for all routers made for this kind of home Internet connections.

does this work for comcast high speed internet?

I understand its operation pretty well, and I have it working successfully on my (A)DSL connection, which means (Asymmetrical) Digital Subscriber Line, which is a kind of digital service (which must be added by the telephone company; it's not part of regular telephone service) over a _telephone_ line, not _TV_cable. The connection to "the world" on this device, as on all DSL modems, is a _telephone_ modular plug/jack, just like you see for ordinary telephones that you plug in, as most homes are wired for nowadays. It definitely will _not_ work on TV cable, because the signalling is completely different and incompatible, and the connectors are also completely different and incompatible. Further, if you get your "telephone service" from your cable company, that also is different and will not work with this device or with any other DSL modem.

Does this modem compatible with Adsl2+ and ppoe supported connection from TPG?

I am currently using these devices with Verizon and my pppoe connection settings (vpi and vci) had to obtained from Verizon before they would connect.

No.

I don't know anything about Suddenlink other than what I just read on their WWW site, but they are clear that their service is not DSL, and this modem-router is DSL only.

No this is a just a modem. You need a router modem combo...it should have antennas coming out of the box.

You want to know which version of Firmware your modem runs?  Are you working for the ISP or something?  Are you an installer?  If the firmware is out of date most cable providers can push the latest firmware to it...

Would this modem work with a VDSL line? I currently use a router with a built-in VDSL modem. I am thinking about upgrading my router to a new one and getting this modem. The thing is, I am not sure if this is compatible with a VDSL line. Do you guys know? Thanks.
