this should work for an old P-III with Millennium as an  O.S. to get on the internet??

I checked online and I think that all of the Pentium III motherboards have ISA slots.  If that is correct then this card will not fit and since it doesn't have a Millennium driver I would have to say that it will not work.

Question 2

Is this card not compatible with Windows 7? I installed it in my mother-in-law's computer and when I booted it up it installed drivers right away. Problem is that now when I go to certain websites it simply times out. None of the other pc's on this network have any problem like this. probably user error but just want to make sure.

It should be compatible with Windows 7.  Sounds like the wrong driver installed itself.  I would uninstall/reinstall the correct driver:
1. Open device manager
2. Select Network Adapter
3. Open this adapter
4. Under Driver tab select uninstall
5. Turn off computer
6. Remove card
7. Power on computer & install driver
8. Turn off computer
9. Reinstall card & restart computer
Proper driver should install for the card, then retest on internet.

It says it is a 32 bit card and my motherboard is 64 will it work with a 64 bit MB?

It works for my 64 mobo. I think you can always use 32 in a 64 but it will only run at 32. I had to buy this b/c the built-in one on my board stopped working, and it was affordable. I hope this was helpful. Happy shopping!

Does this come with a "half-height" bracket??  It looks like the card would fit, just need to convert to 1/2 height.

No. Among all the network cards I've purchased none of them had an extra half-height bracket. Usually they're riveted to the PCB You'll have to perform your own modification, and ascertain PCB height for fit. Fully seated, my PCB extended 1.64" above the socket surface.

Question 7

My card slot only has room for two of the 3 tabs at the bottom of the card(the larger one and the one at the back of the card. Do I need to be able use all 3 tabs? Or will all three tabs fit into my 2 slots?

Typically, if it fits, it will work. I installed this card into my untangle server, 2 of 3 tabs fit, and I was getting full gigabit speeds. I have since upgraded to a motherboard with dual ether net ports, but I keep the card just in case.

What is the empty socket for that is seen in the board?

That empty slot is nothing you need to worry about. Back in the dawn of computers, components were general purpose and special chips were programmed to the specific task needed. They would be installed in slots like that one. The PCI format has been around for a while, and network cards really haven't had to be ungraded at all, beyond adding the gigabit standard. So it's not uncommon to see a tried and reliable development board being used. Sorry for the history lesson, but it's the only way I could think of to explain that slot. All the best!

yes i have an emachines t5010 tower and was wondering is it work on my tower I am trying to get it up and running it is running windows xp?

This Network Adapter comes with Windows XP drivers, but I do not know if your eMachine T5010 has a PCI slot inside. I do know that your eMachine T5010 already has a 10/100 Ethernet port built in. So I am not sure why you need this network adapter unless you need the Gigabit speed.

Does this devices support Message Signaled Interrupts (MSI)?  To tell, on Linux run 'sudo lspci -v', locate the device and look for either an MSI or MSI-X capability.  On Windows, run device manager, select the device and look at resources and scroll to see whether the IRQ is listed as a negative number.  The Realtek product spec for the 8169SC says that it should, but it also says that for the 8110SC, which does not in the instance I received (different product).  Thank you for checking!

No sure if you were answering no to my question or other one above.  No, it won't work in Win server 2003?  If not, is it because there is no driver supplied or is it known to not work in Win server 2003?
