Do you have to buy two of these, one for modem to the wall and one for the wall to the tv?

Rick you will need two of them.  Just as you thought, one to the router and one to your TV.

I bought "one" of these and it works perfectly with the two Zyxel units I bought a year ago.

One of my Zyxel is connected to my router, the other to a Magic Jack phone.  My TP link PA2010 Nano connected to my Blu-ray player.

So, after you get your initial two units, you can then by one at a time, as needed

Should be.  All TP-Link powerline adapter are compatible but it will only transmit at the lowest Mbps that is available so if you have a 200 and 500 Mbps, 200 is all that will be done.

Will this work with my Linksys PLWK400 kit that I already have in the house?

Not sure. It synced fine with my existing Netgear equipment. I think as long as they use the same standard encryption technology they should "handshake" fine. I added two of these TP-Link units to my existing Netgear powerlink set up and all is good.

I just bought a new pair of these after one of my original 2 bit the dust, so now i have 3. Can I use all 3 at the same time?

Yes.  I have two different models for 3 total around the house and they all work seamlessly.  I don't know the upper limit, but I know 3 work just fine.  I think the only bottleneck would be the data rate of the port on your router.

hi, I have the "TP-LINK TL-PA211 AV200 Mini Powerline Adapter Up to 200Mbps" kit already in the house. Do you know if this new model is compatible with the old one or do I need a new starter kit? I just need to add another line

I originally purchased a WPA-218 kit which included a TL-WPA281 & TL-PA211.

The TL-PA211 went out and I simply replaced it with a TL-PA2010 and it seems to work just fine.  The wireless router (WPA281) connected without issue.
