Question 1

1. Brothers HL-1440 is not listed in compatibility list but has both a PCL driver and a PS driver.  What are the chances it is compatible to the TL-PS110P Print server?
2. The HL-1440 has a parallel connector and a USB-B connector.  I'm trying to connect it to a wireless router that has Ethernet connections.  Should I use the TL-PS110P (parallel) or the TL-PS110U (USB)?

I can only vouch for what has worked for me. I set it up using the web interface for fixed/static IP and assigned an address outside the ones assigned by the router. I added the printer as local, NOT networked, and created a Standard TCP/IP port for the fixed IP. Selected the appropriate printer driver and did not share the printer. It worked with two different printers, only one was on the compatibility list. I think the chances for working are good.
I have no experience with the TL-PS110U but I have had no luck with other USB units, so I stay away from them.

Question 2

I intend using this print server as a link from my older HP 4000T printer with a parallel port to a belkin wireless router so that I can send documents from my wireless dell laptop directly to the printer.
I will set the printer up in my desktop as a network printer and download the HP drivers to the laptop.  Sound OK?

I connected the TP-LINK TL-PS110P to an HP LaserJet 5P, ran an Ethernet cord to a 10 port powered Ethernet switch and connected the Switch to my AT&T Home Portal. There are three other PC's wired into the switch, and one ASUS laptop that connects by WiFi. Two PC's with Windows XP and three running Windows 7 Professional, everything installed according to the instructions and the laptop can connect to the HP LaserJet5p, through the WiFi link in the Home Portal. It almost self-installed and works. The only problem is that on occasion the TP-LINK will have to be unplugged and reconnected to renew its address (very rare). Even my old Gateway laptop connected easily via WiFi to the HP LaserJet 5p. The TP-LINK Print Server is a really inexpensive solution. Just to add a level of complexity, two WiFi TV's, three satellite DVR's and two DVD players also share the WiFi connection. It's easier than it sounds.

Question 3

I'm looking for a print server for an older HP4P printer but it is not listed in the compatibility chart for the TL-PS110P.  Before I purchase it I'd like to have some assurance that it will work.  Does anyone have any experience with this?

I believe this will work for your application, though the computer will not auto-detect your printer, you will have to load the drivers manually.  Once the drivers are loaded, you will be able to use the printer.  I don't think the HP4P reports much as a way of status back to your computer, but any status it does report should display on your system.

Does it support WPA2?

This device is wired ethernet only, it has no WiFi capability by itself.  You would need to connect it to a properly configured WiFi Access Point or Router, etc.  with an ethernet cable, and then it would depend on whether the Access Point or Router supported WPA2.

Does this print server works with Windows 10?

I run Windows 10 in a virtual machine (Parallels) on a MacBook Pro.  I can print from Windows 10 in this configuration using either a printer installed in Windows 10 or on the Mac.  The printer I'm using is an old HP 5P laser jet.

Question 6

Will this device allow an older printer be recognized from a windows 8.1 workstation / tablet?  I am interfacing with an ancient but workhorse / tank hp4 (c2100a).  I've had issues with this new version of windows

As long as you have the drivers for the Windows version you are using this device will work, from my experience the older the printer the less chances of finding the driver for a newer Windows version, you may be able to use a universal driver or generic HP driver to overcome a lack of Windows driver for this printer, I hope this helps.

Question 7

How can you use this product to connect an HP 4p and make it work with my wireless laptop?  Can I do that?

I haven't used mine this way, but I would expect it to work.  The print server is connected to the parallel port on the printer and then will have to be connected with a Ethernet cable to the router (with wireless capability) then follow the driver installation instructions on your laptop.  The instructions seem strange (at least they did to me), but remember that while the print server is on the network the printer is local to the print server.

Does this print server work using the LPD/LPR protocol? I'm needing this in a Linux environment.

I'm not sure where it's installed, but 90% of my network is running Linux, and haven't had any print server problems. Caveat: Most print servers come with Windows configuration software. You might want to set up its ip stuff using a Windows system or VM. I have XP and 7 in VMware for those "gotta have Windwoes" moments. Once it's properly configured, it should  work with Linux, Unix, Apple O/S, OS/2, any Windows, DOS, maybe even Amiga.

can this model support IOS , example Ipad?

I'm not sure, the specs say Apple Talk and MAC OS 8.0 and above. If you are printing in a Microsoft world you may want to see if there is an app from Apple that will work for you, I have a customer who does this. TP-Link support is pretty good, I would email them and see what they say. I love this print server in a Microsoft world, it works very well.

Question 10

Is it compatible to a HP Design jet 600?

I would think it would work. I used mine on an HP 500 plotter because the internal jet direct died. It is a little slow sometimes because the drawings are large 42", but for a small printer I would think it would work just fine.
