Is the plug and play compatible with windows 7?

I cannot say honestly that I know the answer. Works seemlessly for Windows 8, so there should really not be a problem. However, since it MIGHT not be backwards compatible, you might want to either consider an upgrade to Win 8 along with this, contacting the manufacturer, or looking at other viable options. Personally, you may want to consider brands such as Linksys, Rosdwill, or Asus, as these are highly scored and are normally very reliable and high-end value products.

does this work on Windows 7? Does this work with all motherboards made in the past 2 years? any special instructions on geting this to work?

I updated to Windows 7 before I purchased this & it works fine.  Not sure about the motherboards.  I'm unable to check my motherboard because I sent this to one of my other stores & it's being used in a shop * through 4 thick walls to WI-FI connection/reception & then is the only wireless I came across (bought 4  others previously - junk) that actually works & I'm very pleased that I decided to try it.  I plan on buying more of these soon to have on hand for my other stores when we add new computers in their shop.

Do you even need this for your computer or what because i could save $42 on this computer im building. Also I have a netgear with ethernet connection but would it still connect to the internet?

It depends on if you want to connect wirelessly with your new build.  If you are planning on connecting through ethernet cable your motherboard should come with this jack to connect wired.  I am not sure what you mean by the Netgear you have as this is a brand name for networking devices.  Netgear makes a number of items for networking capabilities but if you have a USB network adapter this will allow you to connect wirelessly if you plug this in.  If you are referring to a Netgear router, then you will still need a wireless network adapter, such as the TP-Link referenced, to act as a receiver for the wireless signal from your router to the computer.

How can I tell if this is compatible with my motherboard? I have an ASrock motherboard i think.

All you need is a slot open on your motherboard that this card fits in. A pci express x1 or something like that, just look at the specs on the wireless card. Then your operating system should take care of the rest. I can't remember if this came with a disk for a set of initial drivers or if I had to hard wire the desktop into the router before I could get the drivers.

I have Windows 7 32 bit edition and the driver loaded fine. The Wireless adaptor works great! I can't speak for Windows 7 64 bit though.

Hi..my desktop pc is stored below the desk in a screened timber section. Will this affect the performance of the wifi service? How would it compare to a say a wirless unit/antenna sitting on the desk?

If you have a dual band router, excellent signal where ever you put your computer, if you don't have dual band, recommend you do, because it would affect the performance of your wifi, but if you don't have a dual band router and you want wireless unit atenna, depend where you put your router, router investment should be your main point to get good signal, if you can't afford a new router look for atenna that have more dpi, "9 dpi" the more your dpi the better range signal you get for a router that doesn't support dual band.

There is a "low profile bracket" included.  I did not need it for either of the two units I purchased.

Yes it is, from what i can tell so far, windows automatically detected it and didnt even need software to install. I would just double check the compatability list to make sure there is no issues with different hardware.

would i be able to put this on my motherboard!, B75MA-P45 Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard and i only have windows 7 would it still work???? if not any recommendations

It looks like your motherboard has a PCI-E slot, so yeah, It should work. Also, it says in the features that it's compatible with windows 7. Some light reading might help you out.

If my PC does not have a CD drive, will I be able to acquire the necessary software to install?

I don't have a CD drive on my com and have been using this for years. It's a good product for the price.
