Do you plug this into an outlet?

No you don't need to plug it into the outlet, it is powered by USB, so just just plug into a USB port and you're good to go. And FYI, the extender works great. I have it on the other side of my house, upstairs, while my gateway is the basement, and I get 100% signal, and it hasn't dropped once in the couple months that I had it. Ive been through both a Linksys, and a Netgear extender, and this worked better than them both as the others wouldnt keep a signal.

Will this make my desktop work with my wireless router?

Yes it sure will, that is what I use it for. Desktop hooked to my tv out in my living room and wireless connection to my router with the TP-LINK TL-WN822N Wireless N300 High Gain USB adapter.

Really easy to use, pretty much plug and play.
Running windows 7 on my desktop.

Is it possible to remove / replace the antenna's?

win 10 compatible?

Yes. When I got it I had Win7 pro x64. Microsoft gave me Win10 and it has worked flawlessly. I'm not sure of the driver for Win10...I don't know if it is a Win10 native driver or if it grandfathered it in.  I use it about 40 feet from the router and the signal does lgo thru a flat screen TV. It always says I connect at 300.  Never locks up or mysteriously loses connection. Does have a flashing light to know something is working.  Hope this helps.

does this work for the xbox360?

if the xbox is like the ps3 no because the xbox should come with a built in wireless receiver ...what you might need for your xbox is a router just guessing...but I can only say that I used it on a pc and it worked fine...and no I don't think it will work on a xbox?

Will this product work without using the ethernet cord?

Yes, this is a wireless USB adapter.  You will need to plug it into an available USB port with a USB cable.  You can then connect to your wireless router without an Ethernet cable.

My neighbor said I can use his wireless, but I only receive a "poor" signal. Will this improve that signal?

I've been using this on an extremely old laptop and it gets a very good signal. Unfortunately depending on how far you are away from the router will dictate how well it works. I would see how well your cell phone picks up the signal and loosely base it off of that.

Is this good for gaming? No disconnections or latency drops?

I personally only use this for gaming! :) Works so well I now have 4 of them!  No Latency better range.  My Son has one on his laptop went from 3 bars to solid 5 and his ping went from 45 to 18 on World of Tanks, Works well on Call of Duty, Wow, Starcraft 2!

What version is the chipset?

Firmware came with 3.0 on mine bought few months ago. I have two of these now. I'm stuck in a nursing home with horrible 1 bar wifi these tplinks give me full bars and speed. Hope this helps. Outta box was windows 7 and 8 compatible.
