I believe you should have no problem using this USB Adapter on your dell pc. As long as the drivers on the device are compatible with your version of Windows, you should be ok. I used it already on several machines (including dell, hp, and acer) among others, and it has performed very well.

Does this product work with Windows 10? I never checked that before ordering it and it will be here soon. I just want to know so I can send it  back and start looking for a new one. Thanks in advance.

Yes, this device has been installed and working in a Windows 10 64-bit environment.  The device USB\VID_0BDA&PID_8178&REV_0200 also shows up and is auto-configured as a Realtek RTL8192CU Wireless LAN Adapter.  The adapter works as advertised in Windows 10.

Will this work for my Dell Inspiron model 5030?   The internal wireless is not working very well. I think it uses a windows 7 operating system.

It works fine with windows 7 & 8, it comes with its own dvd driver, so just have to install that first

Description says plug and play with Windows 10, so I would say yes.  However I have not tested it on Windows 10.  Hope this helps.

This adapter will be used to add wireless capabilities to a desktop or laptop PC without a built in wireless adapter. A wireless printer or any wireless device, including this one, will connect to your wireless router. The router ties all your wireless devices together on your network enabling them to communicate with each other or reach the internet.

I am using it with an old WindowsXP laptop.  It has worked perfect for me at multiple locations.  Multiple homes and businesses.  Very fast.  Must install the util which comes with it.

Do I have to disconnect my Ethernet cable from my desktop PC in order for this wireless adapter to work? What happens if I don't? Thanks

No you don't have to but if you have Ethernet you don't need wireless? Unless you have fiber optics and can over load both at the same time with downloads, Ha ha, the new routers have 600+ 600Mbm. In your network and sharing center you will have to choose which adapter you are going to use. Usually it won' let you use both unless you configure both and enable both adapters. If you just want to see if it works you can disable your Ethernet adapter and choose your wireless to connect to and put in your wireless key it should connect right up. When done just enable your Ethernet adapter and both should work. Or if you want to move the computer in the other room from the Ethernet jack you are good to go.

Do I just connect this product onto my pc and it will find the wireless signal or do I have to install any other software?

It it is Windows 7 or 8, you don't need to install any software.  If it is Windows XP then, yes, you need to install the drivers on the included driver disk.   You will still have to search for the wireless signal just like you do for any internal wireless adapter using the built-in software in Windows 7/8.

It is a great little adapter, I keep it in my backpack as a backup adapter in case I have problems with the internal wireless adapter in my Windows 8.1 Surface 3 tablet.

Yes.  I have used it on a Surface Pro running Windows 8.1 and it worked.   It is my backup wireless connection when the Surface Pro wireless decides to take the day off.

Depends on the distro of Linux, and how much tweaking you are willing to do.  I've had drop out and signal strength issues on Ubuntu OOB.
