The description says Windows 8 plug and play. Is this also compatible with Windows 7 64bit?

Yes, installed this in a new Dell with Windows 7 pro.  I did need to install the driver off the included CD.  I opted not to run their install program but to let the windows installer load the driver off the folder on the disk.

This will definitely work for gaming as that's what I have used it for, even playing WoW. The signal strength should be best while in the same room because the closer it is, typically the better the connection you'll get with no interference. However, I do recommend an ethernet chord whenever possible since a hard-wired connection would be the most reliable.

Im building a new windows 10 computer in late December for gaming, and I was wondering 2 things.
1) will it be suitable for gaming (my router is in the room above me)?
2) do the drivers work for windows 10 as of 11/23/16?
I would just look at old questions but everything is conflicting so I wanted to get a final verdict.

I put this into a gaming PC I built for my step daughter.  Was originally windows 7 upgraded to windows 10 and still worked with no problems.  You should be ok with your location.  They make a phone app called WiFi analyzer and it is free if your not sure on how strong your signal is below the router.  Hope this helps.

I want to say after I have downloaded the necessary files this adapter is great and recognized the wireless connection without any trouble.    I have great connection speed and is not slow for downloading files off the internet or for downloading security software or to update any Microsoft updates.     Great product and love the way I don't need a wire to connect to the computer.

I purchased this for a friend that had Windows 7, but according to the product information, it is compatible with Vista 32 & 64 bit as well.
This item has performed well for several months now without any loss of signal.
