Works Great

Pros: Purchase this to use with a refurbished Sansa e260 also purchased at newegg. Memory and adapter work as the should. Had to download and install the Rockbox operating system for the Sansa mp3 player in order for it to recognize it (the Sansa os cannot handle 8 GB SDHC on its own).

Cons: none

Simply stopped working

Pros: It appears that the card reader is still functioning properly

Cons: The card itself is not. I googled "sdhc card stopped working" and I got back a link to 25 pages of 1-star reviews of this very card. My computer will not even boot if the card is inserted into the reader. I have been unable to format it or do anything else to resolve the problem.

Other Thoughts: It's getting two stars because the card reader does appear to function. Based on others' reviews here, it sounds like you probably won't have any problems with this card, but the failure rate is unacceptably high for this type of technology.

Not bad for the price I paid but a few catches

Pros: 7.58GB (8,146,182,144 bytes) usable. Interesting combination pack of adapter and card make it universally accessible to any PC with a USB port or SDHC card reader.

Cons: Card is formatted as FAT32, so while it does hold ~8GB, you cannot copy any SINGLE file larger than 4GB. There are ways to format the card as NTFS using utilities or by de-selecting the "optimize for quick removal" option in Windows XP's Device Manager and rebooting, but users who have done this sometimes report card corruption or incompatibility with other devices.

Other Thoughts: Haven't owned very long so I hope it doesn't die on me, but since nobody else has posted explicit technical details, I guess it was up to me.

Speeds averaged over transfers of 2 files (698MB & 1.52GB) on an hp Pavilion dv9208nr laptop with a Fujitsu MHV2120BH PL SATA 1.5Gb/s 5400rpm HD with Windows XP Professional SP3 and all manufacturer's drivers up to date, all Service Packs installed, using the freeware version of TeraCopy 2.01:
--------------------------------------------------

Read using built-in card-reader: 4.8 MB/s (38.4 -- above SD class 4 / 32x)
Write using built-in card-reader: 7.3MB/s (58.4Mbit/s -- above SD class 6 / 40x)

Read using USB adapter in USB 2 port: 12MB/s (96Mbit/s)
Write using USB adapter in USB 2 port: 10 MB/s (80Mbit/s)

2 for 2 are dead after 3 months

Pros: Price. Includes handy reader.

Cons: I have had 2 of these totally give out on me in a Nikon D90 camera. I don't know if it's a camera/memory compatibility issue or what but these things are worthless in the Nikon after about 2 months (about 5-10 pics a day average). It will start by images being corrupt, then you will get random CHA errors on the D90. Eventually the D90 won't even operate anymore with one of these cards inserted. I thought the first one was a fluke so (stupidly) bought another one. It started doing the same thing after about 3 weeks. I will not be using Transcend again, at least not in a Nikon.

ReadyBoost Ready!

Pros: Works With ReadyBoost
Works with Cannon SDHC Cameras
15.5 MB/sec

More flexible than USB, you can't plug your USB Stick into your Camera.

Cons: Not as fast as some other cards out there, but certainly more than enough for most.

More memory than can be used by Vista's ReadyBoost (4GB Max), but Windows 7 should be ok!

Other Thoughts: To the guy who couldn't get ReadyBoost working, I don't know what your problem was, but ReadyBoost only requires about 3 MB/sec performance and this device hits 82X SDHC (~15.5MB/sec) performance. I'm thinking there might be something wacky with your drivers, but if you can't enable this for ReadyBoost, you've got serious problems that have nothing to do with this card.

Good card/not very good reader

Pros: * Card works well in my newish Canon PowerShot, which is capable of taking advantage of faster HC cards
* Camera processes even long video takes quickly on the card -- so it's clearly doing its job
* Thanks to the card's speed I can finally use the Canon's continuous shooting function (about 2 shots/sec), which I couldn't with my old, non-HC 2GB SD card

Cons: Reader is *glacially* slow

Other Thoughts: I have a 5-year-old Dell Dimension PC (though it *does* have USB 2.0 ports) and it's a very, very long wait to get either Windows Explorer or Picasa's Picture Import function to display images from the card via the included Reader. So as a bundle this isn't a very good solution. Be prepared either to tether your camera (with the card inside) to your PC -- my wife had no trouble pulling pix into iPhoto this way with her 5-year-old iMac -- or buy a dedicated HC card reader.
