Never worked right 5/19/2014 8:04:56 PM

Pros: It fits in the cardbus slot

Cons: I tried to get this to run on my P2 laptop, with Win98SE and Win2k and WinNT4 and none of them worked. Maybe it was just a bad card, but I never had the time to return it.

Overall Review: Could have been defective, could be because it's XPress, whatever that means. My other Cardbus NIC worked fine, but the dongle broke. At least there's no dongle on this one. I did try it many years later and it still didn't work, even finding drivers that should work, so I'm wont to say that it was bad hardware.

Decent NIC 8/20/2011 8:37:34 AM

Pros: Good reliable NIC, compatible with Windows and many Linux distros.

Cons: None really.

Overall Review: Good upgrade for older laptops that don't have a NIC built in and have this type of card port.

Pros: Simple install, just plug it in and install drivers from CD.

Cons: Will block other slot if you don't put it in the top slot, but that happens with almost all of these things..

Overall Review: If you need it, get it!

Perfect second Ethernet port 6/21/2011 6:40:11 PM

Pros: Works perfectly. Windows XP recognized it immediately since it's based on a common Reaktel chipset. No issues with hot-plugging. Hard to beat for $20.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I use this with a Dell 5100 laptop on my test bench and it's extremely handy to have a second Ethernet port to attach to devices under program/debug.

Didn't do what I wanted it to do 3/12/2011 10:16:44 PM

Pros: Works in a modern enough laptop.

Cons: Didn't work for my ancient NEC Versa 2435CD. The card wasn't recognized, turns out it really doesn't support 32-bit cards at all...I think.

Overall Review: Be careful if you think this will bring more life to an ancient computer. Buy a Xircom card instead, that worked for me...specifically the CE3B-100BTX.

It'd be dumb and unfair to knock eggs off of this product just for it being too modern, so I'm rating it 5 eggs because it worked very fine in a more modern test system. I returned this afterwards.
