I purchased for use with a Win7 system and it did not work, the driver that came with it would not install and I could find no driver online to attempt to use. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this product. Your experience may be different.

Does this modem work with MacBook Pro?

I have been through a bunch of USB modems.  There is very little quality control.  The Trendnet did not work at all.  The Rosewill would not do caller id.  One even smoked!  Yes, I went through 3 before getting one that would work.  I need to buy several so I kept at it.
I used them with Linux and it recognized them without any drivers they all use the Conexant chip set.  I finally said "just buy the cheapest".  I have 3 of these and they all work:

Since the Mac OS is a Linux spin off, I would give it a try.  You will notice that the information on the web site for this does not mention Linux!

Will this product work with Windows 8?

I have no clue. It was brought for an older computer running Win XP. It worked great on that PC running that OS without cracking the case and installing a fax/modem card which was over my brothers head. It was the best I could do from long distance. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Does the 561U support the AT Command set to be used with "JCBLOCK"?

I bought this modem specifically to use with JCBLOCK running on a RaspberryPi.  It's been working fine for about a year.  I can't comment on much besides it's use with JCBLOCK but Caller ID, Answer and Hang Up work perfectly.

Does the software driver for this telephone modem make this modem look like a com1 ... comx port to the Windows system?

I have Procomm Plus on my new computer that I hope to use to access remote modems at various antenna cell sites. Will this device allow Pots line access? I hope that makes sense? Thanks, Phil
