Does this item come with cables or do I purchase separately?

No, the cables are sold separately. I have had a positive experience with the KVM switch on our rack with an RS/6000, A Dell R710 and an older SuperMicro 1U running ClearOS as our firewall. Adding two HP servers in the near future.

Is this the new 2.1r version product?

I only used it for about a week. I have it in a box somewhere around here. I would have to dig it out.
