Question 1

I have 2 Trendnet 303E devices . Can i add this one to them even though its a different model number?  Will they work together?

It sounds like it would work from the manual:

Note: This TPL-401E 500Mbps Powerline AV Adapter needs to pair with at least one other IEEE 1901 or HomePlug® AV compatible powerline device. (e.g. TRENDnet Powerline AV products TPL-305E, TPL-303E, TPL-304E, TPL-310AP, or another TPL-401E). The TPL-401E2K 500Mbps Powerline AV Adapter Kit already includes two TPL-401E adapters, therefore, there is no requirement for an additional powerline adapter.

Question 2

Does the box contain 2 units( one for the router and one for the remote connection) so I can start a network?  Or do I need to order two boxes?

2 units per box, one to connect to the router, the other for wherever you are setting up the connection.  I haven't used mine yet, but have used another make.  That make didn't work plugged into a power strip/surge protector, but has work great for a year when plugged directly into wall sockets.

Question 3

The 'Windows only' compatibility is for setup only, right?  Once set up I can run any network signals from the router to any other TPL-401?

As shipped, just plug them in. I have not yet used the utilities disk. I may try the utils to see if it resolves sporadic drops on TiVo mini signal... Currently 1-2 per 3+ hours...

Question 4

I have the Western Digital  "POWERLINE KIT WD|WDBABY0000NBK-NESN."  Would the Trendline be compatible with it?

Does anyone know if wake on lan works with this?

it should, as two of these is basically the same as two switches talking to eachother.

make sure you get a 1 port for your router side and a 4 port for your devices side (or you can get two 1-port models and use a normal switch on the device side)

How many do I need for a connection 1 or 2?

You will need two or more to do anything useful with these one to attach to your existing network or your broadband modem and one for each location where you have devices you want to connect.

Question 7

Do I need to order 2 of theses, or does it come with 2 units? Also, do these have to be plugged into the circuit on the same breaker like some of these made by other coimpanies have to?

I would be very surprised if this was more than one unit given the current pricing. As for having to be on the same breaker they will work best if you have them on the same phase. You can tell if two circuits are on same phase by looking to see if the breakers for them are on the same side of the breaker box. Powerline adapters can work across phases but it isn't reliable as you have to have a 240 volt appliance like a central air conditioner or an electric water heater running that will bridges the two phases some people have wired up resistors to act as a permanent bridge.

Question 8

I just ordered/received two of these to use with my Tivo Premiere.  They worked great out of the box - except that I have some older adapters that look to interfere.

Never fear, though, I can buy two more of these at $56 each - or a kit with two of them for $40!

Guess which path I'm taking?  (And I'll sell my old adapters on eBay to someone who doesn't need much bandwidth.)
