It probably wont work if they are on separate electrical meters. They really need to be on the same circuit to work properly. I dont think two units would find each other if they're not on the same breaker.

Can you use more than one adapter to make wired connections at more than place?

Yes.  I am using three adapters currently. One in the office where the router is, one for the game room and one in the family room.

Can you plug other things into the same outlet?

On a typical wall outlet where you can plug two things into it yes you can but obviously as long as there is space to access other socket after plugging in the adapter. Because I have more to plugin than outlet sockets available I'm actually using a short extension cord to give me more sockets so with one socket I get three and one of them is used by this adapter and is working great. Not sure though how adapter would work if plugged into surge protector but the 1 foot extension cord works for me.

Has anyone tried using a 2nd  adapter to plug in a wireless router? I have a trendnet 652brp wireless router in the front  room w/a sliding door of a 3 story home 1st floor. I was thinking of plugging adapter 1  where the wireless is then adapter 2 in the main living room then the wireless router to adapter 2 to work around the signal loss from the front room location.

Do they have to be on the same circuit in a home? In other words, the living-room upstairs and the office downstairs are on the same electrical system, but they are on different circuits.

I already have a zyxel pla4250kit.  I need another adapter.  Can I use this Trendnet tpl-406E with the zyxel pla4205 kit that i already have?  will this cause any compatibility issues?

No, it will not cause any compatibility issues as long as you make sure both sets of adapters connect to same powerline network. You will need to configure them manually with the same network id.

Previously to this one, I had purchased a D -Link D H P -3 0 9 A V PowerLine AV+ Kit. So far they have been working and co-existing just fine in my network.
