I think so.  The specifications on the Tripp Lite site (Newegg won't allow URLs) shows UL1363 (Power Tap) and cUL certifications, and the bar has the UL sticker.

i would not cal it ultra thin.  you can see how wide it is, and it has a square profile, ie.  it is as thick as it is wide.

it is well made and i am very happy with it.  cord is really long.

This is just a power strip, so it does not have any surge protection. It is 1800W which simply means it can handle a single 15 Amp circuit (1800 W / 120 Volts, ignoring power factor W = V times A) which a normal wall outlet might be (an outlet is usually placed on a 15 or 20 Amp circuit). If a surge occurs, the power strip will not do anything with it except pass it on to your equipment. BUT it does give you 12 outlets which is good for a rack of equipment which is what I used it for. I also have a large Uninteruptable Power Supplu feeding this rack so I do not need surge protection, it is built in to the UPS. Hope this helps! BTW 1 Joule = 1 Watt of power delivered over a time period of 1 second. They cite joules for specifications for a surge protector to absorb energy from a spike.
