will this work on keyboard that has usb plug?  will it allow me to plug the keyboard into ps2 recepticles?

Adapter work fine for intergrating old keyboard or mouse to newer system. Nce for those who can't afford a new mouse or keyboard. No to USB keyboard. It is made for older keyboards prior to USB. You will have to experiment to see if it will work with PS2. Check PS2 forums and see what others recommend. Wish I could be of more help.      James

I only need this to be able to use my old PS2 mouse(which fits me better)with my Windows 7 laptop USB 3.0.  How well does  it work for that purpose?

I've used this on Windows OSs for mouse or keyboard or both with no problems.  It seemed like one of the better ones in that I've unplugged it and plugged it at will and not had problems with the device reattaching dynamically.

if I remember correctly, 24 inches.  not long enough for me, so I added a usb extension cable.

If I use this, will I still be able to use a  PS2 controller as I play, being I hate typing anything that I don't need to?

Your question makes no sense, this is a PS2 to USB adapter which it does very well.  If you have a PS2 input on your computer then you would not need this device.

Now if you only have USB with NO PS2 input then this adapter is for you if you want to be able to utilize a PS2 devise.

Question 5

Will this work for use with two gaming machines? I have an older KB with PS2 that I'm not will to give up and want to use it between two newer game rigs but don't want to hinder performance.

Jay B I have been using my ps2 keyboard with 4 new computers on a daily basis. I have it connected via a KVM switch and haven't found any detrimental reactions to any of the computers, although none of them are gaming machines, but all are used in doing graphic processing and video. Hope that helps you.

will this work on kvm switch for windows 8 and xp?

I use this with my Starview and iView KVM switches and it works well.
I also use one made by Perixx. I have tried lots of others. But these are about the only ones I have found that work correctly. Not sure about Windows 8 though, as I don't use it.
