I take it that these units do not provide backup power? So if the voltage is not low, but goes to zero for a few seconds, or minutes, this will not keep my machine up?

That is correct that this unit does not provide backup power. It as a line conditioner (voltage regulator) to prevent sags, dropouts, and surges. I have used this unit in my line of work with great results, but if there is zero input voltage there will be zero output voltage.

I'm thinking of using this to ensure the sine wave for my computer equipment and TV are stabilized when I have to get power from my generator during power failures... it is not an inverter generator.  Has anyone else used it with a generator?
